20: The Bedgebury Forest Woman
On the 23rd October 1979, a woman had been out horse riding along one of the trails in Bedgebury Forest in Kent. This had been a normal day until she spotted something unusual in the undergrowth at the side of the trail. Looking closer the woman quickly discovered it was the body of a woman. The woman had been beaten to death and left by the side of the path. The police cordoned off the scene and began to investigate however they quickly realised that without any identification or witnesses they did not know who the woman was. After multiple appeals and one arrest, the Bedgebury Forest woman still remains a mystery. This was unusual as he was expecting her to be home and she hadn't mentioned that she was going out anywhere. The fire was on, the lights were on and the contents of her handbag were strewn all around the stairs. Alick phoned the police and as an executive at The Sun and News of the World newspapers he was able to get his wife's disappearance on the next day's front page. When she had still not returned he was worried and he received a phone call. The call came from a man saying "We are Mafia M3\. We are from America. We tried to get Rupert Murdoch's wife. 13: The Gorse Hall Murder
On the 1st November 1909, George Harry Storrs was attacked and killed in his home at Gorse Hall in the town of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. This had not been the first attack on his home and police intially found it difficult to find any suspects in the crime. George was a prominent and wealthy man in Stalybridge as he was involved in cotton industry; was his wealth a motive in his death or was it something else? This case would end up leading to two different trials but they would not end up as the police had hoped.
