S2E4-Simplicity VS Complexity in your Overlanding Setup (Outfitting, Best Rig, Best Gear, Planning)

On this episode of the Vlog/Podcast, I’ve started to notice that in my search to reduce the amount of gear I have to carry on a trip, I may have started to introduce some needless complexity to my setup.

In the past, I think I've made decisions about modifications based more on emotion and excitement at seeing something on an Overlanding YouTube channel, rather than what makes the most sense for my needs and trips.

So, on this episode, I wanted to talk through the pros and cons of both complex setups as well as simple setups.

For example, having a really new vehicle can have some advantages and disadvantages based on the complexity of it. You might have more creature comforts, more USB charging ports, and more reliability due to the vehicle being newer. However, it might be more complex or difficult to repair while off-road due to being newer and having more parts.

In this video, I'm just talking through some examples of pros and cons, but I'd really like to hear from you guys on setups you've used that may have been too complex and didn't work well on a trip. Or, tell me about a way that you were able to do something with a simple piece of gear that beats out a more complex piece every time.
