Kit and Alistair enjoy some Sumatran dark forest coffee bags, chatting about the Giant’s Causeway, historic connotations and identity in accents and community, the troubles in Northern Ireland, Shared Education, being in a rock band, amongst other things! Alistair is an unashamed optimist who, even after 3 decades in the classroom, has not become cynical and has no intention of doing so now. He loves geography as much as ever, loves teaching it, and loves thinking about the art and craft of pedagogy. If described in three letters (not three words), those letters must be GIS. He is an advocate of how we can use modern digital geographies to help explore the majesty of the world around us and the seriousness of the global challenges we face. He is deeply committed to peace and reconciliation work in NI through the Shared Ed programme. Outside of work, he is an avid landscape photographer, trying to capture the glorious beauty of his homeland (especially at the Giant's Causeway, where he must have some form of squatter's rights by now!) It is a source of constant amusement to him how much people from England seem to find his mellifluous Ulster brogue somewhat charming, so it is.
