Tenchu: Stealth Assassins Review | Ninja Problems, Incredible Music, Goblin Voices

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins Review | Ninja Problems, Incredible Music, Goblin Voices

Stealth Boom Boom goes all the way back to 1998 for this one, as Tenchu: Stealth Assassins celebrates a big anniversary. 1998 is often seen as the year stealth games were thrust into the mainstream, because of Thief: The Dark Project, Metal Gear Solid, and the game being reviewed today. But, does Tenchu hold up? I guess you could stop reading this and listen to find out. But, if you're gonna continue looking at the description, I'm gonna carry on typing out words into this little box.

On this episode, we chat about the embryonic stages of developer Acquire and how Tenchu: Stealth Assassins very nearly never made its way to the West. In our review, we discuss the issues some of the Boom Boom Boys ran into with the draw distance and tank controls; we chat the magic of item selection (and specifically poison rice); and Josh lets us know just how much he loves that moonsault jump. We also talk about the reluctance of video games to allow you to be the baddie, some absolutely baffling voice acting, and some absolutely incredible music.

Colm tests the gaming knowledge of Adam and Josh in another round of Trivia Espionage Action, and the lads give their verdict on whether Tenchu: Stealth Assassins is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion.

For those who'd like to play along at home, we'll be reviewing Penumbra: Overture, Penumbra: Black Plague and Penumbra: Requiem on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Review | The Bourne Identity, 2000s Mini-Games, Cirque du Raccoon

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus Review | The Bourne Identity, 2000s Mini-Games, Cirque du Raccoon

In the first full episode of Stealth Boom Boom, the lads get together to chat about the Sony mascot that never was: Sly Cooper. And, specifically, the thieving trash panda's first game, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. We don't want to call it by its European name. Yes, we're covering this game because it's 20 years since the game launched in on our side of the world, but we just can't bring ourselves to call it Sly Raccoon. It's just too boring. We chat about where Sucker Punch was as a developer leading up to the launch of this game, as well as The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman. It'll make sense when you listen. In our review, we break down the light stealthing you do as the North American-native mammal, we discuss how acrobatic the hero of the piece is, and we chat about the levels that feature no platforming whatsoever. That last one splits the crowd. We also talk about our favourite levels in the game, the comic book-style cutscenes, and some of the awful members of The Fiendish Five.We also debut a quiz! We promise you it'll have a name on the next episode, and also some mood music to set that Tarrant tone we're striving for. And then we round out the pod by telling you all about our rating system. Is Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus an Espionage Explosion? Listen to find out. While we'll no doubt tweak things as we go, you'll get a decent idea of how things are going to work on Stealth Boom Boom, in this episode. Thanks for listening! For those who'd like to play along at home, we'll be reviewing Remothered: Tormented Fathers on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS🎧 Subscribe to Stealth Boom Boom🐦Stealth Boom Boom on Twitter📸 Stealth Boom Boom on Instagram🎵 Stealth Boom Boom on Tiktok Hosted on Acast. What is a Stealth Video Game? | Stealth Boom Boom

Welcome to Stealth Boom Boom! Every fortnight, Colm Ahern, Josh Wise, and Adam Carroll will go in-depth on one stealth video game from the past, discussing every aspect of it, from the game's marketing and press coverage around its release, to how it plays today, But... what is stealth video game? Sure, we could just point at a Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell box and grunt, but that wouldn't make for good audio. Plus, there's a little more to it than that. This podcast is called Stealth Boom Boom, not Stealth Stealth Stealth, so action games with stealth elements are definitely up for debate. Probably not Horizon Zero Dawn, though. Far Cry might make the cut if Colm can convince Adam and Josh. This episode is 35 minutes of us trying to figure out if we can come up with a definition better than something involving a hungry cat. Ultimately, we're probably gonna figure it out as we go along. You're more than welcome to figure it out with us, if you'd like. Also, you get a little introduction as to who exactly we are and why we like stealth games. And that's nice, isn't it?So, subscribe to Stealth Boom Boom now and listen to us chat about some classic stealth games (and some rubbish ones, as well). For those that would like to play along at home, we'll be reviewing Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS🎧 Subscribe to Stealth Boom Boom🐦Stealth Boom Boom on Twitter📸 Stealth Boom Boom on Instagram🎵 Stealth Boom Boom on Tiktok Hosted on Acast.
