EP 7 - Strongman Adam Bishop | Mulligan Brothers Motivation with Jordan Mulligan

EP 7 - Strongman Adam Bishop | Mulligan Brothers Motivation with Jordan Mulligan

Jordan Mulligan, the host of the motivational Mulligan Brothers podcast, sits down with the incredible Adam Bishop. The professional strongman discusses his life and career as an athlete, alongside his dedication to the sport. The 33-year-old strongman was born in Harlow in Essex, choosing to study sports science at Loughborough university in 2010. It was here where Bishop was persuaded to give becoming a strongman a chance. He took the hit and made the goal to eventually compete at the World’s Strongest Man competition. Within a mere five years he accomplished this goal. His standings have only improved since then, only narrowly missing a place to the grand final in 2016’s World’s Strongest Man in which he was defeated by the formidable Atlas Stone. Despite this, Bishop knew he couldn’t give up, strongman had become his lifestyle. After failing to qualify for the heats in the 2018 World’s Strongest Man competition he continued to persevere, where finally in 2019 he reached the grand final and finished in 9th place overall. It was in the following year in which he made history taking gold at Britain’s Strongest Man. It was in this year in which he reached the final of World’s Strongest Man and finished in sixth place. Throughout his career he smashed personal goals in individual events and used his experience to work as a strength and conditioning coach for the Harlequin’s rugby team. Bishop has used his skills to not only motivate his own personal goals, but the goals of others. It wasn’t until 2021 where Bishop finally made the decision to become a professional full time strongman. It’s in his journey where we discuss his outlook on competing, how he’s navigated the sports world and hoped to inspire and motivate others along the way. Learn more about your ad choices.
