Directed by Barry Levinson and based on the book by Bernard Malamud with a score from Randy Newman, the film was nominated for four Academy Awards: Actress in a Supporting Role (Glenn Close), Cinematography (Caleb Deschanel), Art Direction, and Music (Randy Newman).
