#21 - Hunter Wilson: A Welders Life

#21 - Hunter Wilson: A Welders Life

On this week's episode of Blue Collar Angst, David sits down with Hunter Wilson out of Falfurrias, Texas. Hunter is a welder that works on everything from pipelines to anything else the oil and gas industry needs. Hunter is a welder, an educator, a host for weld.com, and an ambassador for the Western Welder Outfitters clothing brand.

Hunter gives straightforward and practical advice to anybody interested in a career in welding. And gets honest and open about some of the challenges that the industry faces and how he's been able to cope with different challenges that have come his way.

Hunter is a professor at a local college that teaches welding courses and talks about some of the different students and the opportunities that have arose for them. One common theme of the episode for people interested in getting involved in the welding field is that the work is there if you're willing to work your ass off.

Hunter also talks about growing up next to The King Ranch, and gives listeners an inside perspective into what it's like to work on or be around the culture of The King Ranch. The King Ranch in Texas is a legendary and vast ranch spanning over 825,000 acres, renowned for its historical significance, sprawling landscapes, and diverse wildlife. Established in the mid-19thcentury, it holds a prominent place in American ranching history, playing a pivotal role in the development of cattle and ranching industries. The King Ranch in Texas is one of the largest ranches in the world. Covering an expansive area of over 825,000 acres, it holds a significant place among the largest privately owned ranches globally. Its vast size, rich history, and contribution to ranching and agriculture make it an iconic and noteworthy property in the realm of large-scale land holdings. The King Ranch has been involved in oil and gas exploration and production for many years. Oil was discovered on the ranch in the early 20th century, and since then, the ranch has been a significant player in the energy industry. The ranch's land holdings include mineral rights, and it has been involved in leasing its land for oil and gas exploration. Listen in for a true inside scope on some of the rules and traditions of this legendary Ranch!
