How to Make Your Own Gin with Ian Hart and Hilary Whitney, Sacred Spirits

It sounds so easy. Master vacuum distillation and then create the gin that Alessandro Palazzi has selected for the most famous martinis in the world at Dukes Bar in London. But as our guests today, Ian Hart and Hilary Whitney of Sacred Spirits know, it’s not as easy as as all that.

What is easy is checking out our Lush Life Merchandise at www.alushlifemanual.com/merch I’m trying to convince Alessandro to serve his martinis in the lush life mug. We can always hope and dream. You can serve yours in one and at the same time you are helping to support this very podcast.

I’m Susan Schwartz, your drinking companion, and this is Lush Life Podcast, every week we are inspired to live life one cocktail at a time by the best in the industry.

We were talking gin with Ian and Hilary - more specifically vacuum distillation, which they are both pros of now. But there was a time when Ian’s neighbors feared for their lives. It really is amazing how he is still alive...

Our Cocktail of the Week is the Sacred Rosehip Spritz.

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts Sparkling Wine
  • 2 parts Sacred Rosehip Cup
  • 1 part Soda Water
  • Slice of Orange

Method:

Take a large wine glass and fill with ice. Add sparkling wine, Sacred Rosehip Cup and soda water in a 3-2-1 ratio. Top with a slice of orange. Alternatively, make it up in a large jug with plenty of ice and slices of orange.

You’ll find this recipe and all the cocktails of the week on ALushLifeManual.com, where you’ll also find all the ingredients in our shop.
