The UN has not been doing enough to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse by its peacekeepers and there is only so much the UN can do on its own to stop the problem. These are the two inescapable truths in tonight’s new documentary from FRONTLINE: UN Sex Abuse Scandal.
For years, the UN has been plagued by allegations of rape on the part of its peacekeepers, who are deployed to conflict zones all over the world.

The film team tracks down survivors across the globe who were as young as 10 when they say they were raped or exploited by UN peacekeepers who were supposed to protect them.
“They grabbed me, took me inside the house. After they took me inside, they took my clothes off, threw me down, had sex with me, then took me outside and told me to go,” says Daniella, a young girl in the Central African Republic who was 10 when she says she was raped by peacekeepers sent by France under a UN security council mandate who had been deployed to help stop a potential genocide.
