Episode 20- The Grim Sleeper-Part 1

WELCCOME TO EPISODE 20- THE GRIM SLEEPER PART 1.

This episode unpacks a serial killer who was operating in the Central Part of LA hunting women of color. He was dubbed the Grim Sleeper. The victims and A survivor, told the story and exposed evidence that helped capture the Grim Sleeper in 2010. The sources mentioned below were essential for my research in this case. The case impacted the city of Los Angeles in the 80's for 25 years until he was subsequently caught for the murders committed in the 80's and in the 2000's. There were about 20 serial killers operating all in the same areas in the 70's and 80's. The LAPD and The Sheriff office came under fire for never reporting the facts to the public. Investigators knew the Predators MO. Investigators also had information of the kind of car, Orange Pinto to be exact, that he was driving to hunt, and that he was disposing bodies of African-American women who were drug addicted and sex workers in Dark Alleys, streets, dumbsters, and abandoned spaces in LA. The community was in an uproar when they learned how investigators handled this case. You be the judge. Do you feel investigators neglected to inform the community because of racial bias? Stick to the facts. The investigators were working at a time when DNA and limited resources were allocated to the cases. Christine Pelisek was also a pivotal key player in bringing down a monster who was hiding in plain sight.
