Tom Cleverley - Gone, not forgotten
Another one bites the dust, but this time it isn't just "another one". Tom was classy as a player and as a guy, so much so that he was elevated possibly too early to deal with the pit traps and politics of Watford's regime. On the other hand he was well versed in it having been with us pre Pozzo and then since 2017 (even though Pete says 2011 at one point - it's been a busy day) so knew all about the club under the current owners and yet even he is left short of either support or patience by the ownership. Some will say that the form since Christmas made this almost inevitable, however many of them (not all) thought we would be relegated. Was Clevs the victim of his own success raising expectations in the early part of the season? Perhaps. His note on his departure is classy but that will surprise no one.
