TWITTER SPACE - PART 1 COVENTRY CITY 3 - 3 WATFORD

We jump straight into the calls with Rich who is very upset at the defensive performance and is perplexed at Martins removal, Pete wants to invert the inverted number eights (again), Charlie joins and he and Pete talk about last week, clear the air and then have a very good chat including the words“Sunday League defending”, “Row Z” in terms of the defence but a pleasing review of the forward line including the front line of Ince, Martins and Rajovic and asks – do we have to take Martins off when he is having such a good game. Plus is Bachmann’s confidence affected by the way that he AND his back line are being asked to play. We hear from Sky Blue Hub who were also reeling from a bonkers afternoon of football and get the opposition view in terms of goals scored and conceded and we ask how we compare to other teams they’ve faced this championship season. We have exciting news about Monkeys and Forests – sort of! Caity joins us with a positive view and attributes the result to individual mistakes rather than a systematic issue and suggests that Keith Stroud of Luton seemed to be less than fair. Jack joins form the US and reinvents the midfield into a diamond sending Pete all misty eyed banging on about the 90’s again! COYH! THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Coventry City (Away)

THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Coventry City (Away)

Dave joins us for the third time to about Coventry and on this occasion comes on dressed as some kind of Midlands based Ewok in tribute it seems to one of their new signings. Once we stop insulting our guest for no apparent reason, we run the collective postmortem over the Championship Play Off final, work out quite how quick got shot of the offending penalty taker and where at the Ricoh (or whatever it is called) they likely dropped him off the bus. We talk about how Luton are getting on in the Prem with no sense of glee at all – well maybe a bit, Viagra use at West Ham and finally reluctantly we talk about the early season form and the transfer coming and goings including how do you replace Gyokeres and Hamer? Pete has a go at mispronouncing all the new Coventry signings and then we discover why nearly no one will be wearing a replica shirt despite having paid for one! We get to the increasingly bizarre prediction league and find out where John has been out and about this week with his predictive Backgammon set and welcome Jarvis Cocker (Spaniel) into the league after a superb debut last week!! Finally with the transfer window closing we ask what we and Coventry might hope for but also what they expect. Justin shares his personal pain from watching Watford last season – again! COYH! TWITTER SPACE - PART TWO WATFORD 0 - 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS

More fan discussion including Mark asking how we can get behind the team in the stadium, Rio (who had become a twitter viral sensation within hours due to his shirt) talks about the pace of the game and our lack of end product before bringing us up to date on the amputee tournament he took part in in Poland earlier in the month. John calls from the windy common wondering how we managed to lose a chess match of a game that we seemed to be largely dominating. Neal concurs with the statistical domination but questions our purpose, aggression, and movement – are we too predictable and do we need to vary our attacking style despite looking promising in many areas. Analysing the squad Neal calls out a number of areas where we might all hope to see some strengthening before the window closes this coming Friday. We start going through the 5 word reviews until Sean comes on to expand on his own 5 word review as eloquently as ever and then announces that he would change the formation and talks us through playing two up front. TWITTER SPACE - PART ONE WATFORD 0 - 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS

Following the 1 – 0 home defeat by Blackburn Rovers and the 1 – 1 draw with Durham in the Championship following last seasons promotion. We hear from Alan who is positive about things despite a sense that the manager will inevitably moved on and therefore refuses to get emotionally attached to him, Brett asks why Louza might not have been disciplined in a another way rather than dropping him from the starting eleven (following 2 late arrivals for training) but also wants to know what clothes he should wear at the next game as he seems convinced his clothing is cursed! Uncle Ron joins to the strains of Chas and Dave and tells us this week why there is no pleasing him – unimpressed with Valball and comparing the squad for that in the early 1990’s (with an honourable exception of Matheus Martins). Unimpressed with Mileta Rajovic’s first 30 minutes or so in a Watford shirt – he is in favour of him having some assistance and playing two upfront. Wendover joined and his usual positivity was balanced with a frustration that we say we have played ok but again failed to take anything from the game and is looking (as ever) to the end of the transfer window and hoping for improvements and re-enforcements. Alex thinks things will work out we need to be patient pointing out that the performance and identity are better this season even if the results are less so (in the same period as last season), Paul joins us to implore the Watford supporters to get behind during the game no matter what their position on all things political at the club, Jack feels that Louza (dropped from the starting line up) should have been dropped all together before Pete bangs on about Kone’s hair band, Mike joins to pour over proceedings Pete gets him to inhabit Valerien Ismael for three minutes and tell us what he would have done at half time (believe it or not we didn’t even make an innuendo about this!!!) DNSYE - WOMENS SEASON KICKING OFF

DNSYE - WOMENS SEASON KICKING OFF

Last season saw the womens team have an outstanding season. Many, many people contributed but we talk to the team manager (never one to take the credit - always first to give it to others) about the triumphs of last season and therefore what promotion entails for the coming season. Back in the Championship, but still part time against full time opposition the Golden Girls will have to be focused and prepared . We talk about the logistical, playing and lifestyle challenges that a nationwide league will bring and talk through the new recruits joining an extremely well bonded core of players retained from last year. We discuss Helen Wards transition from Centre Forward to General Manager and pay overdue credit to Laura Dyer who's work last season was remarkable. Finally Pete and Justin moan about the size of the hole that Pete will have to climb through to do a commentary again - cos no one wants to see what they saw last season!! The girls start their season against Durham on Sunday at 12 noon down at Grosvenor Vale. COYH! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Blackburn Rovers (Home)

THE OPPOSITION VIEW - Blackburn Rovers (Home)

Justin, Carl and Pete are joined by Ian from 4000 Holes (in Blackburn Lancashire) to talk all things Watford v Blackburn & Pete doesn’t know what day it is per normal. We find out about a club who lost their big goal scoring names and seem to be finding players for little or no money with a Manager who is trying to do everything seemingly by himself. We find out that you can sign players on loan from Russian clubs (although Pete demonstrates he doesn’t know the difference between CSKA and Spartak) but they will inevitably be found on the treatment table or not in the team as they are not fit (sound familiar?). As if the similarities so far aren’t enough we find out the foreign funding taps appear to have been turned off – in their case though by the Indian government! We discuss how clubs look to sell tickets without making any signings that signal any ambition for the season with managers trying to recreate the football of Man City! Justin implores everyone to vote for us in the Football Content Awards, Pete starts talking about musicals for no apparent reason and then bangs on about why Coldplay and football should not be combined. We find out which member of the Wharton family Ian and the Blackburn fans are keen on this year, Carl complains about Stoke other than the size of the beer glasses and Justin gets philosophical whilst carrying on the beer theme. We do the prediction thing with a sense of incompetence that we describe as charmingly shambolic with its very own alphabetical order. This week the Backgammon plays tribute to Watford and Blackburn goal getter – Danny Graham! We discuss why Vincent Kompany is both the nicest and thus the most annoying person, Justin tries to get Carl to sing and then we discuss why Harrogate should be where Harrogate is and we start planning the DNSYE Christmas outing at the reverse fixture! DNSYE - DAVE MESSENGER UPDATE SPECIAL

DNSYE - DAVE MESSENGER UPDATE SPECIAL

Justin, Peter and eventually Carl (who was reciprocating for us on a Stoke City podcast) get to have a follow up discussion with Head of EDI Dave Messenger to go through the metrics reported at the start of the month (see link for website article) discussing the number of incidents and the types of outcomes reported last season and the season before relating to the "We" campaign that we talked about last season. The number of incidents have reduced which is great news but we go into which types have increased, which have decreased and which have stayed the same and why that might be. We then look at what Dave and his team do with each of these incidents and what the outcomes might look or feel like. In addition we find out where the line is drawn between home games, away games and also on club run courses. We find out what it might mean if you find a yellow card on your seat (don't panic), what is a “behaviour agreement” and why self-policing like grown ups has a part to play in retaining our own identities and values in a positive way and help reduce stadium bans. We discuss the collaboration between clubs and whether other clubs report these kinds of instances. It is essential to state that the number of incidents reported is a tiny fraction of the number of supporters who come to Vicarage Road or follow the Hornets away each season and the numbers are going in the right direction – so good news. We also have confirmed that an arrest is made the moment anyone steps onto the pitch (so stay off it guys) – which would have made the Troy goal v Leicester pitch invasion a nightmare of police paperwork!!! Do have a look at the link to see what results we were chatting through and let us know your thoughts on this. COYH!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. TWITTER SPACE - PART 2 STOKE CITY 1 - 0 WATFORD

Here we hear the 5 word reviews and long form comments - we know we need a striker and that we look short in a number of areas of the pitch but whilst some are criticising players on the pitch others point out that they are doing ok and it is the responsibility of the management of the club to provide Valerien with more usable options from the bench and to bolster the starting 11. The last days of the window will, as ever, be watched and, as Gino said at the Q&A - judge him on his actions rather than his words. We have a coach that is capable of producing high energy football, the supporters are behind him - we now need the much vaunted recruitment arm of the club to get the balance right between keeping the club sustainable and supporting the manager in terms of tenure and with players to really bring out the potential in the manager and the squad.
