ICYMI #1

Welcome along to a new show here on The Cat, and the first edition of ‘In case you missed it’

This is where we look back to the last week, both on-air, and in our local area of Crewe and Nantwich

Coming up on this week’s show:

· We’ll hear from Ben Wye, from Active Crewe travel, who talks to our very own Dave Foulkes about the future of cycling in the local area

· And a Local care home agency has been rated among the top in the region… we’ll have a listen back to the interview from earlier in the week

· We’ll have a run-through of the biggest local news stories of the week

· And look forward to the week ahead

First up… Do you have an interesting car or bicycle, classic or state of the art?

Two local young journalists are looking for interesting vehicles to review for their YouTube channel.

The duo would like local owners of interesting cars and bicycles to get in touch if they are willing to allow them to film and review the vehicle.

If you think you can help, or maybe you know somebody who can, you can contact the boys via their Facebook page, just search for ‘all things auto tv’, you can also email the boys. (danielachterhuis@gmail.com)

Local residents using Cheshire East Council's household waste recycling centre site in Crewe have been warned to expect delays.

Roadworks near the site, on Middlewich Road and Pyms Lane, are causing higher than normal amounts of traffic in the area and this is now having a knock-on effect for residents queuing to use the household waste recycling centre.

To help ease the traffic and the demand, the local authority who manages the site is reintroducing a vehicle number plate system from Friday 10 July just for the Crewe site.

Active Crewe Travel is a local organization that promotes cycling in our local area and campaigns for safer routes and conditions in the area. They would like to see 20mph speed limits on all residential and quiet streets, and Dutch-style fully segregated cycle lanes. Ben Wye is from Active Crewe Travel, and spoke to our very own Dave Foulkes earlier this week…

You can listen to the full interview with Ben on our website, and to find out more about Active Crewe Travel you can visit creweact.org.uk

Home care provider SureCare Central Cheshire has won an award for being one of the Top 20 home care providers in North West England.

Tina Jones, Director at SureCare Central Cheshire spoke to us about what they do, earlier this week...

News from this week - Cheshire East Council is to press ahead with a brand new walking and cycling route for Crewe to encourage people to leave their cars on the drive and get healthier.

The route will be created in the Leighton area of Crewe and the council also announced a similar scheme for Wilmslow.

The council is responding to calls for safer cycle routes, which also offer a pleasant environment for pedestrians.

The scheme forms part of a council policy to promote active travel, reducing car dependency and our carbon footprint.

The A530 scheme will support the northwest Crewe housing package and will improve walking and cycling links to the Bentley campus, Leighton Hospital, and Leighton Academy.

Looking ahead at this week on The Cat

· On Monday afternoon Chris Cadman is speaking to Simon Dyson, the Principal of Highfields academy in Nantwich. They’ll be discussing the impact of COVID-19 and how the school has adapted

and

· Sandra Link from Chance Changing Lives will be chatting to Dave on Wednesday at 11:30 about how the group is working during COVID-19, and about her nomination for an Amazing Women Award
