527. The Business of Birth Control with Ricki Lake & Abby Epstein

Ricki Lake and her longtime business partner and filmmaker, Abby Epstein, join the show today to talk about their groundbreaking new documentary film, The Business of Birth Control – a truth finding journey where they tell the impactful stories of women who’ve had a whole range of experiences on, and coming off of, hormonal contraceptives. As we’ve seen and heard in past episodes on this subject, this community has a very direct connection to the modern birth control story. Until very recently, our knowledge had been strictly experiential. Now, with documentaries like this and other dedicated research, we’re learning more about what these drugs do in our bodies, and to our minds. It’s critically important work, and so important for all women, especially young girls, to know and understand. From June 22nd to 26th, The Business of Birth Control will be available to watch for FREE in the USA and Canada! You can grab your ticket here. And for those who miss the free streaming event, you can use the code "Almost30" for 50% off by clicking here. 524. The Gift of Being in a Body + How To Tune In

524. The Gift of Being in a Body + How To Tune In

It is what it is, right? But, that’s not a mindset that comes easily – or quickly. For many of us, our teens and twenties are filled with changing – wanting to change, feeling pressures to change. After thirty, and after doing the work, a shift starts to happen. We look in the mirror and wink at ourselves instead of wishing for something to be different.  Lindsey sits down for this deeply personal solo episode to walk listeners through her own body attunement journey, from watching herself in home movies as a wiggling four year-old, to learned familial beliefs on body, her (sometimes toxic) relationship with fitness, and unpacking early sexual encounters.  Everything is on the table, because everything in life is connected to our physical self.   Tune in and take note to start feeling better in your body, more harmonized in the feminine, restorative, juicy goodness that is this physical vehicle, on this planet. It’s a beautiful thing, and when we can truly celebrate it, it shines through in the rest of our lives. We also talk about: Everything is everything What is body attunement to me? Reprogramming negative familial beliefs  Being aware of how social media makes us feel Unpacking impactful sexual experiences  How we process outside information Identifying areas where we can be more attuned with our body Considering our cycles as the seasons Infusing your food with intention Resources:  Use keywords, titles, proper nouns, etc., to describe each third-party resource READ: “Tantra: The Supreme Understanding” by Osho Join our community: almost30.com/membership facebook.com/Almost30podcast/groups Podcast disclaimer can be found by visiting: almost30.com/disclaimer.  Find more to love at almost30.com! 523. Free Yourself With 4 Questions with Byron Katie

523. Free Yourself With 4 Questions with Byron Katie

Byron Katie is known around the world as an author and a thought leader among thought leaders, a voice so clear and yet so intellectually complex that you might find yourself replaying this episode once or twice to grasp the beautiful concept of radical inquiry that she presents in her work.  Calling her process “The Work,” she invites readers (and listeners!) to ask four questions of themselves in times of angst, challenge, or overthinking: Is it true? Can you absolutely know it's true? How do you react when you believe that thought? Who would you be without the thought? It seems simple enough. But, sit with even the first question, truly – and you'll realize we’re headed down a path of the divine, but unknown.  Weaving metaphors and vivid imagery like an artist, Byron Katie takes K+L on a spiritual journey, starting with a morning walk, where the only thing bigger than the ideas are the questions. You’re invited to open your mind and let it all (nothing) wash over you. We also talk about: The importance and beauty of a morning walk Her spiritual awakening journey The 4 questions from Loving What Is  How to become an observer of our thoughts How everyone in the world is our teacher Taking radical responsibility  How to work on our stories related to body image, relationships, and fear How to deal with pain and suffering in the world aka how to approach reality  Get discount codes sent directly to your phone. 522. Use This Method for a Better Relationship with Your Body

522. Use This Method for a Better Relationship with Your Body

Do you ever feel like there are a few different versions of yourself that come out during certain situations? In some recent therapy work, Krista has learned that… well, maybe there are.  In this episode, she takes Almost 30 nation into her personal therapy journey, unpacking her self-leadership work using the Internal Family System (IFS) method to identify, observe, respect, and understand the distinct parts of her being that protect and project less-than-ideal behavior, especially as it relates to her body acceptance. We meet the Manager, the Firefighter, and the Exile. But, no parts of us are bad. This is an important caveat to remember. Meeting and understanding these different forces within us is what helps us observe our lives and environments for ways we may encourage, or discourage, their appearances in place of Self, our highest and most pure form. This one goes deep, and invites us to look within ourselves for a different perspective, or two, on who we are, and why. Enjoy. We also talk about: Check ins on projects and processing long creative gestation periods Krista shares her body acceptance journey Introducing Internal Family Systems (IFS) method The manager, keeping you busy, productive, and distracted  The firefighter, doing whatever it takes to bring you to equilibrium Exiles, forgotten and missing parts of your past and present Understanding and acknowledging their roles  Feeling their love and working in unison with Self Resources:  Use keywords, titles, proper nouns, etc., to describe each third-party resource Learn more about Internal Family Systems (IFS) Join our community: almost30.com/membership facebook.com/Almost30podcast/groups Podcast disclaimer can be found by visiting: almost30.com/disclaimer.  Find more to love at almost30.com! 521. Rich Roll Makes His Process Public: Purpose, Sobriety and Partnership

Rich Roll is an inspiration, both in the general sense and in a very specific way. Believe it or not, his podcast played a big part in K+L launching Almost 30. After years of struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, Rich turned his life around to become an award-winning ultra endurance athlete, vegan advocate, best-selling author, and host of the incredible Rich Roll Podcast. You may have heard his story before, but this conversation pushes him to go a little deeper on some less-explored details. Rich goes into his personal journey including his marriage with Julie and their financial collapse, alcoholism as it relates to the sober-curious movement, finding purpose and what that means, and picking apart the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous as it relates to a spiritual experience.  It’s a super dynamic conversation with someone who’s accomplished so much in life. You won’t want to miss it. We also talk about: Starting the Rich Roll podcast Advice for finding your purpose Taking next steps when you’re in a dark place What sober-curious people can learn from AA Being a positive influence while allowing people to follow their own path Finding and cultivating a loving partnership Balancing aspiration and reality when raising kids How Rich’s spirituality has evolved Developing the habit of taking action Resources:  richroll.com Instagram: @richroll The Rich Roll Podcast Order: Voicing Change Volume II Join our community: almost30.com/membership facebook.com/Almost30podcast/groups Podcast disclaimer can be found by visiting: almost30.com/disclaimer.  Find more to love at almost30.com!
