Episode Seventy Nine-The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

Episode Seventy Nine-The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

In this week's episode, I take a look at the little book that could about the little girl that could, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. In a few hundred pages, King crafts a harrowing tale of nine year old girl who demonstrates more bravery than any character in any of his works.

Episode Seventy Seven-Bag of Bones

Episode Seventy Seven-Bag of Bones

King steps away from the larger than life concepts that he'd been exploring in the mid nineties to dive into an introspective look at love, loss and legacy.  It's his turn at the Gothic ghost story, a haunting love story: Bag of Bones.

Episode Seventy Four-Desperation

Tak! In September of 1996, Stephen King published two novels on the same day.  One was published under the pen name Richard Bachman I'm a wolf and the other, under his own publishing name, is the terrifying novel about faith v. despair in a small desert town: Desperation.  How does it fare?  Find out here at the Stephen Kingcast! Episode Seventy Three-The Regulators

Episode Seventy Three-The Regulators

This week, I examine Stephen King's most underrated novel, The Regulators.  Published on the same day as Desperation, this entry, under the pen name Richard Bachman, is one of King's most out-there and high concept novels.  Perfectly skewering suburban life as well as offering up commentary on living with a difficult child, The Regulators is an action sci-fi with satirical horror elements that combine to make this novel  an incredibly imaginative journey.
