(AP) — DNA found on the clothing of a suburban Chicago woman who was kidnapped and killed 45 years ago matches that of a suspected serial killer who died two years later, authorities said Wednesday. I landed on the case of the cold case of Mary Davis, a mystery that lingered for decades and has finally been solved. In a remarkable display of the enduring power of forensic science, advancements in DNA technology have led to the identification of Russell Grant Wood as the perpetrator in the tragic demise of Mary Davis. The evidence, submitted to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in 2022, brought closure to a case that had remained unresolved since 1987. Unfortunately, Wood passed away in 2013, but this breakthrough is a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice and the importance of technological progress in solving crimes.
