387 - Bert Kreischer: Wanting to Be Liked & Learning How to Tell Hilarious Stories

Bert Kreischer is a comedian and storyteller. He said he had to learn how to tell stories because he wasn't "a hot chick." He needed a skill or a talent and then he'd be liked. So in the 9th grade, he started practicing. Now he's 45. And he's been doing stand-up for most of his life. In this interview, I ask him about his need for approval, what his dad thinks of his career, the changing landscape of TV and entertainment and how anyone can become a creative if they just use the right tools and lens. But I also split this episode up into smaller pieces, which you'll see on your podcast feed if you subscribe. Because the interview is so long (2 hours) I wanted to give you a chance to enjoy and learn and laugh without having to give such a big commitment to the show. And if you like it, hopefully, you'll come back and listen to the full episode or share the parts you like with your friends. Either way, thanks for being with me while I try something new today. -James I write about all my podcasts! Check out the full post and learn what I learned at jamesaltucher.com/podcast. I Know that She Knows that I Know that She Knows: Steven Pinker on the Mysteries of Money, Power, and Everyday Life
