Rider Waite Tarot Card Deck
=======================
I learned how to read cards on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck and the instructor I had said its easiest to have everyone on the same deck when explaining the symbolism. About Carrie and @QuickLearnQuests
===============================
I have been reading Tarot cards for 30 years for fun. I took a two and a half day course, and I was so excited to be able to take the mystery out of getting readings done for myself, and to be able to do them myself. We also have social media channels, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and all major podcast distributors such as Spotify, Apple, Audible and many others under the handle @quickLearnQuests. I am focusing mostly on my podcasts and YouTube at the moment, but I will expand into more social media more consistently when I find my feet.

Here is my YouTube Channel video for interpreting cards in Three Card Spreads: https://youtu.be/P8En-8-8njk?si=7LIlOsFv9pNZ9iK7

Here is the transcript:

Have you heard that your tarot cards must be wrapped in silk to keep it safe or "charged"? Maybe you've seen beautiful silk wraps in shops or heard it from someone in the tarot community. It's a nice idea, but here's the truth. Tarot cards don't have to be wrapped in silk.

If you are new here, welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. Today, we're exploring common misconceptions about tarot cards. We have done two complete rounds of three-minute episodes, where we learned the cards upright and reversed. Before we jump back into it, I wanted to switch gears for the holiday season and share my opinions on some common tarot misconceptions. Let's get started. So, Where Did This Belief Come From? This idea likely comes from a mix of tradition and symbolism.

The First reason is silk's historical value. Silk has long been associated with luxury, protection, and spiritual practices. It was once considered rare and precious, so wrapping tarot cards in silk added an air of importance and care.

The second reason may be the mystical symbolism associated with silk. Silk is often seen as a "pure" material, believed to shield energy. Some practitioners thought silk could protect the cards from negative energy or help "charge" them with positive vibrations.

The third reason is the Victorian Mystique. During the nineteenth-century revival of mysticism, Tarot was often paired with other rituals and traditions, including elaborate storage methods to elevate its perceived sacredness.

While wrapping your cards in silk can feel luxurious and intentional, it's not required for the cards to work effectively. Tarot is a tool, and the energy you bring to it is far more important than how you store it. In fact, you can store your cards however you like. Some popular ideas are to store your cards tucked in its original package. Or, you can store them in a wooden box or bag. I keep my favorite in a cranberry-colored velvet pouch. Also, you can simply store them on a shelf or a desk where they are easily accessible. What matters is that you store your cards in a way that feels meaningful and practical for you. If silk resonates with you, go for it. If not, that's perfectly fine. What really matters, is that the way you store your cards should reflect your relationship with them. For some, that means silk. For others, it might mean a favorite hand-sewn bag or nothing at all. Ensure that your choice takes into consideration what is practical for you. Not everyone resonates with pulling your cards out as a ritual.

I have about thirty sets of tarot cards, and I have them displayed on a shelf in my office so that I can quickly grab the ones I wish to use. They also look amazing, and I know exactly where they are. Most are in their original packaging, and the rider cards that I use most often is in a velvet bag. However, one of my dear friends, who also reads cards, loves the ritual of pulling out a wooden box that stores her tarot cards. They are wrapped in silk, and she unwraps them, pulls a candle out of the box, and lights it. She does the whole thing, and she loves it. And its fun getting my cards read by her, and her process is part of the fun. I don't feel that she takes it more seriously than I do. I just think that we have different ways of expressing it.

The point is that there is no right or wrong way to store your cards. If silk feels right for you, embrace it, as my friend does. If it doesn't, know that your cards will still work just fine. The bottom line is that tarot cards don't need silk. They need you. Your intentions, energy, and connection to the cards are what truly matter. So whether your cards are wrapped in silk, cotton, or nothing at all, know that it's ready to work with you.

That's all for today's episode. Remember, to memorize Tarot, keep practicing Tarot. Thanks for listening.

I use the Rider Wait Tarot if you listen and watch episodes with your own deck. Today, we are diving into the meaning behind the two of wands. We will start with a simple breakdown of the suit and number. The second part will dig into more symbolism to help you look at this card and tell a story. First, let's start with the suit and number.The suit of wands represents fire and passion within us. Examples are creative projects and ideas, new hope, recognition of potential, and motivation. Wands are structured like a deck of playing cards and has cards numbered one to ten. The ace is a new beginning, and card two is the second step which represents planning and making decisions or choices. Putting it together, the Two of Wands is about planning your next step on a project you are passionate about, and making plans and decisions. Next, let's take the symbolism a step further. In the Rider Wait deck, the Two of Wands has a person with a globe in one hand and a wand in the other. The globe implies influence and opportunities. the wands are up straight and sturdy. representing solid foundation of achievements. The ground beneath the person is solid. The landscape is full of abundance. Water, land, and the mountains. The path ahead shows a journey with ups and downs that may take some endurance. The astrology associated with the Two of Wands is Aries. The Aries traits connected to this card are assertive action, a pioneering spirit, and there may be some impatience. Now that we have covered the basics, symbolism, and even a bit of astrology, how do we apply this card to a reading? Looking solely at this card, you would take its meaning and apply it to the meaning of the position in the spread. For example, in the past position, you can explain that in the past, the person changed directions, started something new they are excited about, and are making plans and decisions around how to move it ahead. How did I memorize the Two of Wands? Instead of memorizing the card itself, I memorized the symbols, numbers and suits and kept practicing. For the Two of Wands, I memorized that all the number two cards are the second step in the journey, which is planning and decisions. Knowing what the two means helps me interpret a piece of five different cards. I memorized that wands are journeys around things that come from passion and fire, not logic. This is a trait of all fourteen wands cards. Wands is a situation that involves creativity, excitement, and bold action. And repetition. As you listen to these three-minute lessons, you will have consistent reminders of symbolism that apply across different cards in the deck. Thank you for listening. The second part will dig into more symbolism to help you look at this card and tell a story.First, lets start with the suit and number. The suit of wands represents fire and passion within us. So, more "feeling things" rather than "thinking things."Creativity, ideas, action, hope, potential, and motivation are examples. These all come from fire and passion within us. The number one, or Aces, represents the start of something new or a first step. Putting it together, the Ace of Wands can suggest a new idea, a new feeling, taking a first step, a new beginning, a new sense of hope, or motivation to start a new project. Next, let's take the symbolism a step further to help you memorize the meaning of this card when you see it. The sprouting leaves on the Ace of Wands can symbolize the new growth and potential of this new beginning. The hand emerging from the cloud holding the wand can represent grabbing hold of this new beginning and taking action. The landscape in the card's background shows a rugged surface and mountains in the distance, implying a journey with ups and downs that may take some endurance. Next, lets cover the astrology associated with this card. The Ace of Wands represents the sign of Aries. The Aries traits connected with this card are ambition, action, and their pioneering spirit. Now that we have covered the basics, symbolism and even a bit of astrology, how do we apply this knowledge to a reading? Well, looking solely at this card, you would take the meaning and apply it to the meaning of the position in the spread. For example, in the past position, you can say that the current situation is influenced by a new journey that you started in the past that is now getting traction. Here's another example. In the opportunities position, an Ace of Wands may suggest that it's time to jump into something new that you are more passionate about. So how did I memorize the Ace of Wands? Truly, instead of memorizing the card, I memorized the symbols and kept practicing. For the Ace of Wands, instead of memorizing the cards, I memorized the meaning of the number one, which is new beginnings. There are five number ones in the deck. Knowing what one means helps me remember a key piece of five different cards. I memorized that wands are feeling things, like your fire and passion. This is a key trait of fourteen different cards. And repetition. As you listen to these three minute lessons, you will have the consistent reminders of symbolism that apply across different cards in the deck.Thank you for listening.
