More about today’s guest: Massimo Valsecchi is an art collector and owner of Palazzo Butera in Palermo. A former director of Milan’s Galleria Bertesca, in 1974 he opened the Galleria Massimo Valsecchi in Milan where he promoted the work of international and Italian artists including Anne and Patrick Poirier, Claudio Costa, David Tremlett, Tom Phillips, Elisabeth Scherffig, Eugenio Ferretti, Gilbert and George, and many others. In the 1980s he began organizing major national and international exhibitions and he also teaches design history at the University of Siena. In 2014, after visiting Palermo, a project was launched with the support of the local university and municipality, and in 2016 he decided to acquire Palazzo Butera, sparking a period of redevelopment and regeneration of the entire Kalsa neighborhood.
