Not tonight I have a headache!

Our second season begins with a local case that quickly gained national attention. It’s almost like something out of a novel, but in this case truth is stranger than fiction.


This one has it all; 2 victims with no clear connection to one another, cheating spouses, family disputes, life insurance policies, copycat crimes and poisoned Extra Strength Excedrin. Yes, you read that correctly. Death by Excedrin.

Unfortunately, the killer took their cues from the 1982 Tylenol murders where 7 people died after taking the pain medicine which was laced with cyanide. Unfortunately, that criminal has never been found to this day and the case remains unsolved.

Our story begins in 1986 when victims Bruce Nickell and Sue Snow were killed by cyanide laced Excedrin capsules. Today, we have tamper proof seals and foil wraps that manufacturers use to keep their products safe. At that time, there was no federal standard and any bottle of over-the-counter medication could be fair game for a would be killer.

Many suspects would emerge in this case but the FBI narrowed the list down easily. The only thing they had a hard time finding was motive. Who would want these two people dead? And why use over-the-counter medication to kill?

This copycat felt the odds were in their favor. If the person in 1982 could get away with killing 7 people, it stood to reason they could get away with multiple murders as well.


But as the saying goes “Hidden truth can be more poisonous than a spoken lie…”
