Scott chats with breaking artist Gashi to hear his incredible story of going from refugee runaway to multi-platinum recording artist working alongside talent like French Montana, Travis Scott, and Nipsey Hustle. The show begins with a conversation about life in quarantine, then transitions into Gashi’s humble beginnings in Kosovo and how he eventually landing in Brooklyn with his family. Scott touches on his own upbringing and first taste of success, then Gashi talks about how he dropped out of school and pursued music with his homeless peers. He outlines how he went from selling CDs in the street, meeting Scott early on, meeting Austin Rosen, and getting a record deal. They share the infamous story of Gashi’s performance at RCA records and recall how his first few songs went viral, allowing him to give up an ordinary life and transition into an artist. They also discuss Gashi’s new album, 1984, and he divulges some of the inspiration behind the songs and lyrical content.
