Ep44: Who and What is a Child Life Specialist?

I have been so abundantly blessed with very wonderful experiences, and very wonderful relationships. In double whammy form, one of the most wonderful experiences of my life came along with one of the most wonderful relationships. My life was changed in many ways when I was part of an effort to bring light and love and temporary reprieve to children and their families who were facing and fighting illness, and often life threatening disease. This effort had a name and it's vibrant purpose is revealed within it: Partners That Heal. When Partners That Heal partnered with Phoenix Children's Hospital, I was introduced to the world of a Child Life Specialist. And My introduction came in the form of a wonderful human being by the name of Wendy Pauker. Wendy and I were instant friends. There was no other option than to love her immediately. And how fitting, that this amazing human being would spend her professional days living our her humanity in amazing ways as A Child Life Specialist. Listen in on our conversation and get bitten by the love bug like I did. You will adore her. And in the warmth of her person, learn what an amazing and amazingly challenging world she works within... All to advocate for children and the families of these children, who need that advocacy all while they live suspended in hope for a healing... A healing that often comes, and sometimes not. Oh to have this Wendy by you and with you, through it all.
