Ep. 2083 Luca Ferraris, Ferraris Agricola | On The Road With Stevie Kim

Welcome to Episode 2083 of On The Road Special Edition. In this episode, Stevie Kim visits Ferraris Agricola vineyard to discover Barbera D'Asti with Luca Ferraris, of Ferraris Agricola    Discover the history of the ancient estate where the winery is located, the development of this extraordinary family winery, and the winemaking techniques involved in producing its famous wines    More about today’s winery:     The history of the Ferraris Agricola winery began when great-grandfather Luigi emigrated to America and found gold during the "Golden rush" in California. Thanks to his income, great-grandmother Teresa, who had remained in Italy, had the opportunity to make his dreams come true. In 1921 she bought the house, in Castagnole Monferrato, in Via al Castello, home of the first Ferraris winery. Two years later, grandfather Martino bought the "Casot", a rural farmhouse in the middle of a 40,000 square meter plot where today one of the most representative vineyards of the company stands. However, the production of wine remained a passion and never a job. Thus, for decades, the grapes were given to the town's Social Cooperative.    Connect  Website: https://ferrarisagricola.com/en/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ferrarisagricola    More about the host Stevie Kim:  Stevie Kim hosts Clubhouse sessions each week (visit Italian Wine Club & Wine Business on Clubhouse), these recorded sessions are then released on the podcast to immortalize them! Ep. 2082 Wim Sas | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza

Ep. 2082 Wim Sas | Everybody Needs A Bit Of Scienza

Welcome to Episode 2082, where Prof. Scienza takes questions from the wine community and answers them in his own inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language. Today’s question comes from Wim Sas.    Today’s question:   There is some confusion about the pedigree of Sangiovese. Some believe Sangiovese is the father of Ciliegiolo, while other research shows Ciliegiolo (known as the grape producing the wine nero dolce) is the father of Sangiovese. Can you please give us your thoughts about this apparent paradox in the pedigrees? The leading scientists mentioned by Professor Scienza in this episode are Claudio D'Onofrio from the Università di Pisa and Manna Crespan from CREA (Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l’analisi dell’economia agraria)    If you want to learn more about the Professor:  The one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” in place of “Vermentino.” Attilio Scienza is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. He has been the lead for many national research projects in the field of physiology, agricultural techniques, and vine genetics. As the author of over 350 publications on vine and viticulture in national and international journals, you can bet he knows his stuff!  To find out more about Attilio Scienza visit:  https://www.vinitaly.com/formazione/vinitaly-international-academy/attilio-scienza/     _______________________________  Let's keep in touch! Ep. 2081 A perfectly matched e-commerce blend for your digital success with Giorgia Santinami, Paolo Picazio | wine2wine Business Forum 2023

Welcome to Episode 2081, where we present a session recording from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into "A perfectly matched e-commerce blend for your digital success"    Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023.    wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide.    About the session:  Having a strong online presence is a key aspect of a brand’s growth today. The digital space is the most frequent, fast and accessible point of contact for consumers who, in 90% of cases, prefer omnichannel solutions. Therefore, the online retail site is currently considered a commodity in several sectors: from Fashion to Lifestyle and Food & Wine.    It is necessary to build one’s digital store by creating a functional and smooth online customer experience, focusing on visual communication and guiding the user through the purchase path, elevating the brand’s digital positioning and strategy. Brands need to integrate retail and e-commerce initiatives that give them broad visibility in every target market, scaling search results, offering more opportunities for conversion, and gaining clear insight into the analytical assets of its users. We need to get a strategic direction for the customer experience and, most importantly, conducive to international brand expansion.    Find more about wine2wine Business Forum: https://wine2wine.net/   _______________________________  Let's keep in touch! Ep. 2079 Deborah Brenner | Voices with Cynthia Chaplin

Ep. 2079 Deborah Brenner | Voices with Cynthia Chaplin

Welcome to Episode 2079, in which Cynthia Chaplin interviews social entrepreneur Deborah Brenner in this installment of Voices on the Italian Wine Podcast. Deborah Brenner founded Women of the Vine and Spirits and she continues her epic work in the industry with a new initiative to stop harassment in the wine sector.    More about today’s guest:   Deborah Brenner  Founder & CEO, Women of the Vine & Spirits®  President, Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. 501c3  Founder, Diverse Powered Brands™    As a social entrepreneur, Deborah Brenner measures success on the positive impact a business makes on society. She has manifested her vision with Women of the Vine & Spirits®, the all-encompassing global membership organization dedicated to boldly pushing the wine, beer and spirits industry toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive era that supports business development and innovation, empowering all to thrive.    And more recently, with an emphasis on creating greater equity for diverse suppliers who are part of historically marginalized and disadvantaged communities, Deborah launched Diverse Powered Brands™ in 2023. Diverse Powered Brands is the premier centralized B2B digital global catalog connecting diverse-owned, diverse-led and diverse-made brands to buyers, wholesalers investors, and supplier diversity managers across the entire beverage alcohol and hospitality industry    Prior to entering the wine industry, Deborah spent 20 years in the male-dominated television and film technology industry. It wasn’t until a fortuitous trip to Napa and Sonoma, that Deborah discovered another male-dominated industry, one where women were under-recognized. Compelled to tell their stories, she authored a bestselling collection of profiles on women, Women of the Vine: Inside the World of Women Who Make, Taste and Enjoy Wine, which Wine Spectator named a Critical Read.    Through the process of writing the book and championing these extraordinary women, Deborah became inspired to enter the wine business herself, releasing wine from a first-of-its-kind collective of seven artisan women winemakers. For seven years, Deborah learned the business inside and out. Ultimately, however, the wine brand didn’t foster women the way she had hoped, which led her to shut down the brand and return to the drawing board.    In March 2015, Deborah organized the Inaugural Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium, bringing women and male allies together to focus on actions the alcohol beverage industry could make to change the status quo. It was a sold-out success. Membership to Women of the Vine & Spirits opened September 2015. What started off as a one-off event and a grass roots movement quickly expanded into a global organization with corporate and individual members connected across the globe.    Connect:  Website: https://www.womenofthevine.com, https://www.wotvsfoundation.org, https://diversepoweredbrands.com   Instagram: @womenofthevineandspirits @diversepoweredbrands   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/women-of-the-vine/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/diverse-powered-brands/   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/womenofthevine365/?ref=bookmarks ; https://www.facebook.com/diversepoweredbrands/    About today’s Host:  Cynthia Chaplin is a VIA certified Italian Wine Ambassador, a professional sommelier with FIS and the WSA, a member of Le Donne del Vino, and a Professor of Italian wine and culture.
