Showtime Magic, Cozens Rumors, and Augustine's Reign - Jan. 8th, 2025

The Todd McLellan era continues to get better...

Tune in as we open by discussing Ryan's return, a quick correction from last episode, and a lack of bold playoff proclamations (0:00) before jumping into the Detroit Red Wings extending their win streak to 5 games with a win over the Ottawa Senators, including Dylan Larkin's goal streak, Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat continuing to stay hot, Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson holding down the fort on defense, Joe Veleno's timely goal, Alex Lyon's injury and Cam Talbot stepping in, and Patrick Kane's Showtime magic in overtime (7:50). After that, thoughts on how sustainable the win streak is in the "PLAY F****G HOCKEY" era under Todd McLellan, what the playoff odds are for Steve Yzerman's Hockeytown team, & more (19:35).

Next, more Dylan Cozens rumors between the Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres, who on Detroit would be worth including (Marco Kasper? Nate Danielson?), and whether Elias Petterson or J.T. Miller would be a better fit (32:25).

We then discuss Trey Augustine, Max Plante, James Hagens, and Team USA's 2nd consecutive World Junior Championship gold medal, Jesse Kiiskinen's strong performance, and Axel Sandin Pellikka's accolades, as well as a note on the Red Wings goalie pipeline with Sebastian Cossa and Carter Gylander alongside Augustine, and how Ville Husso and/or Jack Campbell may be used as trade fodder (49:30).

Finally, NHL news including the Canucks drama, Vatrano's deferred salary, & more (1:00:50) before we take your questions and comments in our Overtime segment (1:04:05) - enjoy!
