Elon Musk's Worst Idea Ever? Removing the "Block" Button from Twitter

In a post on X, Musk announced, “Block is going to be deleted as a ‘feature’, except for DMs,” adding that the block feature "makes no sense." Previously, the platform described blocking as a way for users to control their interactions, especially in cases of harassment or threats. SpaceX Starship Faces Many Hurdles Before Next Flight

SpaceX Starship Faces Many Hurdles Before Next Flight

Starship Progress: SpaceX continues to prepare for its next Starship launch, with significant testing and retrofitting on Ship 25 and Booster 9 at its Texas facility. The water deluge system has been tested, and SpaceX is aiming for a potential launch by the end of 2023. FAA Review: After the April test flight failure, SpaceX's mishap report is under FAA review. The administration will identify corrective actions SpaceX must make before launching again. The timeline for the review and necessary adjustments remain uncertain. Legal Obstacles: Ongoing litigation with environmental groups adds complexity to the launch process. These groups have sued both SpaceX and the FAA, seeking to revoke SpaceX's five-year launch license, and the legal process is still underway. Musk's Outlook: Despite regulatory and technical challenges, SpaceX's founder Elon Musk is optimistic, indicating a 50% chance of achieving orbital velocity on the next launch. No official test flight date has been announced, but preparations are being made. Future Considerations: The next launch could be as early as August 31, 2023, but factors such as the FAA review, legal battles, and concerns over Raptor engines' reliability could lead to delays. Community disturbances and environmental impact continue to be concerns in SpaceX's operations

Twitter Battles Over Trump's Account Information

Twitter Battles Over Trump's Account Information

Court documents recently unsealed provide an unprecedented look into the intense legal battle that unfolded between social media company Twitter, now known as X, and special counsel Jack Smith, who was seeking specific information related to former President Donald Trump's account. The revelations offer fresh insights into a complex legal fight that extended from the federal courtroom to the Twitter headquarters and sparked significant controversy. In January, Jack Smith, the special counsel appointed to investigate matters linked to Trump, subpoenaed records tied to Trump's Twitter account. The information sought included direct messages (DMs), draft tweets, deleted tweets, and location information. The request was not without controversy. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell was involved in hearings in February, in which the nature and scope of the subpoena were deeply questioned.

Russia and India Race to the Moon

Russia and India Race to the Moon

In what has been framed as a modern space race to the lunar south pole, both India and Russia have embarked on ambitious lunar missions. Although it’s easy to become caught up in who will touch down first, these missions represent a wealthomore than a competition. India's latest lunar venture, Chandrayaan-3, commenced its journey on July 14, 2023, entering the moon's orbit on August 5. The craft is currently executing orbit reduction maneuvers, preparing for a landing attempt anticipated for August 23. The target site for the Chandrayaan-3 is situated at 69.37°S 32.35°E. Solar considerations are paramount, as the sun's rise at this location will illuminate the area by August 21 GMT, thereby providing the required power for the solar-powered Vikram lander and Pragyan rover. The estimated landing time is 17:47 IST (1217 GMT, 08:17 a.m. EDT) on August 23. Both the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover are solar-powered and have a mission lifetime of one lunar daytime (approximately 14 Earth days). This makes the timing of the landing vital to the mission's success and the amount of scientific exploration that can be carried out.
