A Conversation with THISTLE & OAK

Thistle and Oak, an Alternative Americana duo, blend the bright harmonies of old-time folk music with the captivating choruses of alternative rock and Americana to create a mixture of sound that coalesces the duality in their music. Finding inspiration in, and in turn drawing comparisons to, The Head and The Heart, Of Monsters and Men, Nickel Creek, and The Civil Wars, they infuse honest warmth and genuine emotion into the meaning of their lyrics and the texture of their harmonies. The duo, composed of singer-songwriters Paul Ryan and Lindsey Ann, first bumped into each other at a blues bar in Chicago where a spark of romantic chemistry turned into creative collaboration. They shared stories of their musical hopes and dreams until the sun came up and have been chasing those dreams together ever since. Their live shows run the expanse of human emotion from lonesome ballads to exuberant anthems, delivering a contagious, passionate performance.
