To make things a little easier, I wrote out the takeaway task so you can mull it over without having to go back and listen again...


Day One:

Choose whether to journal (can be good to come back and see where you were at a later date) or just think about the following:

  • What is your starting point (where you are now) both physically and mentally.
  • Ask yourself: “Do I use shame as motivation?” If so ask “how well has this worked for me?”
  • Reflect on what resonated/stood out for you from Chapter One

4 Simple Steps to Make New Habits Easy 🙌🎉

Have you seen the memes???The ones going around social media that say it's not possible to form habits with ADHD 😭😬 I'll be honest, they scared the life out of me. What's the point in trying if a disability dictates it's impossible😐 THEN I did my research (and some self reflection) and realised not only is there no scientific backing for that hypothesis, but we KNOW that can't be true! I'm willing to bet you have formed plenty of bad habits right? And if you dig deep, there will be some positive ones in there too - it's all about HOW we form those habits that dictates whether we lock them in or not. It is absolutely possible for ADHDers to create a habit, we just need a system specific to our brains! On reflection, I have created a wealth of healthy habits. Since my diagnosis I: Exercise regularly, follow a mindful morning routine and daily gratitude practice, follow a weekly planning and organisation routine and consistently post this podcast every Friday! People Pleasing, or the "Fawn" response, is prevalent in those of us with ADHD, it's a natural result of spending years being misunderstood by the culture but also ourselves. You may think you're just a kind, empathic, helpful person (and you probably are!) but people pleasing has nothing to do with any of those things and is actually very damaging in the long term. It leads to burnout, inauthentic relationships and a loss of identity - I speak from personal experience! But what I can also tell you from that experience....is that it doesn't have to be that way.
