马友友1 马友友祖籍浙江，一九五五年出生于法国巴黎。那时，他的父亲马孝骏博士和母亲卢雅文女士已在巴黎生活了近二十年，而且已经有一位四岁的女儿马友乘。马友友四岁那年，开始接触乐器。马孝骏博士本身是位弦乐幼教专家、女儿友乘在他教导之下能拉小提琴，也能弹钢琴。四岁的小友友觉得姐姐弹得好也拉得好，潜意识里就不愿意和姐姐学一样的乐器。有一回在巴黎音乐院，他发现体积最大的低音大提琴，马友友主动向父亲要求学那个乐器。可是，实在找不出有合适小孩拉奏的低音大提琴，友友只好退而求其次的学了体积稍小的大提琴，未料这个乐器改变了他的一生。五岁时，马友友就能轻松的拉三首巴哈的组曲，天分不高的人，甚至练到老都拉不好。在马孝骏博士旅居法国廿七年，也是马友友七岁那年，他们全家迁居到美国。马博士继续在学校内任教，马友友则经过特别的推荐，有机会演奏给当年的大提琴大师卡萨尔斯欣赏。卡萨尔斯简直无法相信七岁的孩子有如此美好的音乐的产生，他对马博士说："你不能限制这个孩子，你要随他去。" 这时马友友已进入纽约茱丽亚音乐学院，受教于罗斯门下，他的技巧已经无懈可击，罗斯说：「他很小就已经很杰出，听他的演奏我都感动得直想落泪。」这就是马友友，在十五岁之前就已令大提琴演奏前辈的音乐家折服。
