He was Regional Minister for Education, Tourism and Sport in the Piedmont Region from 2010 (with specific competence for Expo Milan 2015) until his election as MEP, Provincial Councillor for one mandate, Regional Councillor for one mandate, Deputy Mayor and Municipal Councillor for two mandates. He has also been Chairman of the International Fair for the Alba White Truffle, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Office of Alba, Bra, Langhe and Roero, responsible for the wine project ‘Nuova DOC Alba’, Federal Councillor of the Italian Fooball Federation, and President of the Touristic-Cultural Association ‘Giostra delle 100 torri di Alba’.
