Activists say that the tradition will be difficult to stop, as almost 9 out of ten girls and women have had FGM performed on them. It is now punishable by 3 years in prison to remove any part of female genitalia. South Africa has started trials of the BCG vaccine to fight coronavirus. The vaccine is primarily used against tuberculosis.
