Ep. 805: Near Death on the Pacific Crest Trail - Alan Carpenter

Ep. 805: Near Death on the Pacific Crest Trail - Alan Carpenter

Alan didn’t start his long-distance career until the age of 62! Since discovering his love for adventures he has logged over 20,000 miles in the last decade with accomplishments like hiking the John Muir Trail (twice), the Colorado Trail (twice), the Pacific Crest Trail, the Appalachian Trail, and half of the Continental Divide Trail. He has also bicycled the US Pacific Coast, across the US on the Southern Tier, and Northern Tier Routes. All this has been in his 60’s and 70’s.

This continued love for adventure, however, came from the most unexpected of places, a near-death experience on the Pacific Crest Trail. The life-threatening accident completely changed the way he viewed the world and led him to make the healthy choices he’s incorporated into his daily life, which he attributes to his ability to do these adventures at his age.

This is a great tale full of wisdom and inspiration that I know you’ll enjoy.

Ep. 762: Thru-Hiking the Arizona Trail - Jacob “Valhalla” Myers

Ep. 762: Thru-Hiking the Arizona Trail - Jacob “Valhalla” Myers

Jacob Myers thru-hiked the Arizona Trail early this year and is joining us today to tell us all about it! Not only was the desert vastly different from the lush, rainforest-like Appalachian Mountains he grew up in, but it was one of the driest summers on record in Arizona, making the adjustment even more challenging. He dealt with sun poisoning, lack of water, and extreme heat. His next adventure will be quite literally on the opposite end of the spectrum...crossing glaciers in Norway. Learn more about Jacob: www.ValhallaHikes.comInsta: @YonderingThruLifeSupport Adventure Sports Podcast monthly by going to Patreon.com/AdventureSportsPodcast or make a one-time donation to the show here. Our Sponsors:* Check out Infinite Epigenetics: https://infiniteepigenetics.com/ASPSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 760: Cycling to Every Country in Africa in One Trip - Ron Rutland

On June 30th, 2013 Ron left his home in Cape Town, South Africa, in an attempt to cycle a single continuous journey through all 48 countries on mainland Africa (a world first), with the ultimate goal of reaching the UK in time to watch the South African National Rugby team at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. Just over two years later Ron had completed 42,000 km (26,000 miles), through 75 countries in total. Needless to say, a trip that changed his life.
