Dr Jeff Matheson, Life Begins & Ends In The Cell Membrane, Vegetable Oil & Cancer, How Genes Turn On And Off :KKP 136

We welcome back Dr. Jeff Matheson, co-founder of an all-natural migraine and headache centre, which promotes a non-narcotic approach to pain and headache management. Plus, Dr. Jeff Matheson is the co-founder and medical director of Pure Life Science. Dr. Jeff Matheson successfully practiced medicine in emergency departments across Canada and internationally, from Ontario, Newfoundland, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He later was appointed Medical Director of Med-EmergInc in 1998, a company dedicated to staffing underserved hospitals in Canada. Dr. Matheson has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia and well as Oceania. According to Dr. Matheson, “traveling is the best education!” Dr. Matheson is an enthusiastic believer, as well as being immersed in other cultures. Similarly, if one does not listen to patients, one won’t hear what is necessary to understand the patient’s problem, i.e., the patient’s “culture.” It is with this ability to listen and empathize with the patients that Dr. Matheson allows an accurate diagnosis and develop sustainable solutions, optimizing health, and patient outcomes. If a solution cannot be determined, resources will be dedicated, through the involvement of alternative care specialists, ascertaining the best possible treatment for the patient by trying to treat causes, not just manage symptoms. In this episode, Dr. Matheson opens up the show diving deep into the cell membrane and how it separates the interior of cells from the outside environment. We are continually attacking our cell membranes with the “Stupid” American Diet. Dr. Matheson explains the connections between our cell membranes, receptors, oxygen, and omega-6. Plus, Dr. Matheson describes how vegetable oils are causing cancer and which good fats you should be eating, including his Pure Form Omega. Stay tuned as Dr. Matheson discloses how healthy cells can protect us from viruses. // E P I S O D E S P O N S O R S PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [01:00] About the Cell Membrane The cell membrane is a biological membrane that separates the interior of all cells from the outside environment. We attack our cell membranes every single day with the food that we consume. Our food is leading us down the path of chronic disease. The Standard “stupid” American Diet has been imported to many countries around the world. Our membranes have two layers of lipids. The fatty acid composition determines how fluid, penetrable, and how the cell functions. No one talks about how the cell membrane functions. It’s a rapidly moving system. Your body is really good at distributing fats around. Good or bad fats take about 10 or 20 minutes to distribute throughout the body. [07:40] The Job of Receptors Receptors are how cells will communicate with one another. Type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance. When cells are unhealthy, the receptors will be less active. Morbidly obese men have man boobs because their membranes are in poor health. A female can have a normal thyroid yet still feel like crap. Doctors are looking at health in the wrong way – they only test the blood to determine if someone is healthy or not. [10:55] Communication Between the Receptors and the Nucleus When we start altering the function of the receptor, we will begin to modify the gene expressions. Now, we will have changed responses, and the signals will get crossed. We won’t be able to react normally to environmental factors. We see this all the time in obese people; they have altered gene expression. People who are overweight don’t normally react to hormones. These people eat something, and they should feel full, but they don’t. If a cell has altered membranes, then it is asking for help. Inflammation is a call for help! [16:30] The Correlation Between Oxygen, Omega-6, and Our Cells Oxygen oxidizes things. Oxygen cannot sit freely in the cell. Omega-6 will take oxygen to the mitochondria. Omega-6 is extremely important! It’s predominant in our diet because it’s supposed to be. No life exists without omega-6. The processed omega-6s are pure and unadulterated poison. If you do not give your body proper fats, you will not do well. I repeat, you cannot do well without good fats. [25:40] Vegetables Oils and Cancer Smoking rates are as low as they have been in sixty years. However, cancer rates are well over 60%. In 1900, cancer rates were at about 3%. You can’t have something to increase that high in six generations. Vegetable oils are causing our cancers. They are hidden everywhere. If you go to Whole Foods, you will see vegetable oils in loads of things. We should never make an exception for vegetable oils. Try to eat clean for one month. Everybody will cheat. What happens when you cheat, your body will tell you that something bad has happened. Remove the inflammatory fats. [30:20] Add Good Fats to Your Diet Seed oils are the best. Pumpkin seed, sunflower, coconut, and flaxseed oils are good. A lot of oil bottles say they are cold-pressed. However, they need to be cold-pressed in the absence of oxygen. If there is oxygen, the oils will become rancid. Once the oil is sitting on the shelf, they are getting damaged. Find good fats that are protected from oxygen. You can get almonds and other nuts that have good fats. If you are roasting nuts, the function is destroyed. [33:55] About Pure Form Pure Form Omega® Natural Essential Fatty Acid (EFAs) Omega-3 and Omega-6 capsules are the ideal way to replenish your body’s precious essential oils. Your body cannot make Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and they are required by all the cells in your body. The only way to get these fats is through your diet. Pure Form Omega® Natural is organically produced with cold-pressed seed oils containing essential Omega-3 and Omega-6 in the optimal ratio. You can get Pure Form here. [38:20] Healthy Cells Can Protect us From Viruses The omega-6 family produces GLA and DGLA. Which, in turn, makes a powerful anti-inflammatory. The next step is arachidonic acid, which produces other anti-inflammatory enzymes. The omega-3 family can even inhibit the production of anti-inflammatory enzymes. Omega-6 intake will allow you to fight off viruses. We don’t need a massive amount of omega-3s. The most significant purpose of omega-6 and omega-3 is in the membrane structure. If you consume healthy fats, you will have a healthy cell membrane. [45:00] Membrane Health is Everything Get away from the factor that genetics will map out your life. You can influence chronic diseases and acute diseases through lifestyle choices. AND MUCH MORE! #1228 This One Plate Meal Can Restore Arterial Function, Reduce Inflammation, and Prevent Heart Attacks Faster Than Drugs, According to Human Studies With Ben Azadi

In this episode of the Metabolic Freedom Podcast, Ben Azadi explains why heart disease is not caused by cholesterol, but by silent inflammation and damage to the arterial lining. Ben breaks down how plaque actually forms, why standard cholesterol labs often miss real cardiovascular risk, and how insulin spikes, oxidized LDL, chronic stress, and gut-derived toxins quietly damage blood vessels over time. He introduces a science-backed “artery repair plate” designed to restore endothelial function and calm inflammation using four key foods: Arugula or beets to boost nitric oxide and improve blood flow Wild-caught salmon to reduce inflammation and stabilize plaque Fermented vegetables to lower endotoxins and support gut-artery signaling Extra virgin olive oil to prevent LDL oxidation and improve arterial flexibility The episode also covers which lab markers actually matter, common foods and habits that damage arteries, and a simple three-day arterial reset protocol to support long-term heart health. Ben emphasizes that the body is not broken. When the right signals are present and inflammation is removed, healing becomes natural. 🔥CLICK For Your Complete 14 Day Fat Loss Plan (Reignite Your Body & Life) HERE - https://bit.ly/3NKRS84  📚 🎁  Purchase Ben's new book Metabolic Freedom today to receive immediate access to a FREE course on metabolism with exclusive interviews from Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, Cynthia Thurlow & more. #1227 Calories Aren’t the Problem - The Shocking Energy Blocks Slowing Your Metabolism with Dr. Christopher Motley

#1227 Calories Aren’t the Problem - The Shocking Energy Blocks Slowing Your Metabolism with Dr. Christopher Motley

What if the real reason your metabolism is struggling has nothing to do with food, but with hidden energy blockages, unresolved infections, and the frequency of your environment? In this episode of the Metabolic Freedom Podcast, Ben Azadi sits down with Dr. Christopher Motley to explore how Traditional Chinese Medicine and frequency medicine work together to uncover root causes of metabolic dysfunction. Dr. Motley explains how the body functions as an electrical grid made up of meridians, fascia, and biofields, and how disruptions in that system can affect organs, hormones, detox pathways, and energy production. Using Ben’s own real-life experience with mold exposure, back pain, and drop foot, this conversation walks through how spinal patterns can reveal stressed organs, how infections like mold, yeast, and parasites may linger beneath the surface, and why gut health, kidney function, and adrenal fatigue are often deeply connected to metabolism. They also explore the emotional and environmental side of healing, including how unresolved stress, fear, control patterns, and even the people around you can influence your biofield, hormone output, and long-term health. If you want a deeper understanding of metabolism that goes far beyond calories and macros, this episode opens an entirely different lens. Key Topics Covered How Traditional Chinese Medicine views the body as an electrical grid of meridians and energy pathways What the biofield is and how frequency medicine is used as an investigative tool How spinal misalignments may point to stressed organs and metabolic dysfunction Identifying hidden infections including mold, yeast, candida, parasites, and bacteria Ben’s experience with mold exposure, back pain, drop foot, and gut symptoms The connection between kidneys, adrenals, colon health, and energy levels Why emotions like fear, frustration, control, and unresolved tears are discussed in metabolic healing How environment and proximity to others can influence your energy and physiology The role of thoughts, beliefs, and mindset in shaping hormonal and nervous system responses Why healing often requires addressing structure, chemistry, emotions, and energy together Links & Resources Dr. Christopher Motley: https://www.doctormotley.com/Ancient Health Podcast: https://www.doctormotley.com/podcast Follow Ben Azadi 🌐 Website: https://www.benazadi.com📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebenazadi💼 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/benazadi▶️ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/ketokamp 🔎 Find All Metabolic Freedom Sponsorship Dealshttps://www.ketokamp.com/sponsorship-deals

#1226 Give Me 15 Minutes a Day and I’ll Save You 15+ Years of Alzheimer’s -The Metabolic Truth About Brain Decline and How to Reverse It With Ben Azadi

Alzheimer’s doesn’t begin with memory loss. It begins years earlier with metabolic dysfunction. In this episode, Ben Azadi reveals why Alzheimer’s is now being referred to as “Type 3 Diabetes” and how insulin resistance, inflammation, and chronic stress silently damage the brain long before symptoms appear. You’ll learn why genetics are not your destiny, how the brain becomes starved for fuel despite high blood sugar, and why waiting for symptoms is already too late. Ben breaks down the science behind hippocampal shrinkage, reduced glucose uptake in the brain, and the role of cortisol in cognitive decline. This episode introduces the 15-Minute Brain Reboot, a simple daily protocol designed to protect and rebuild brain health: Daily fasting to switch the brain’s fuel from sugar to ketones Zone 2 movement to increase blood flow and grow new brain cells Gratitude (“Vitamin G”) to lower stress hormones and protect neurons Ben also answers common questions about genetics, brain games, fasting safety, supplements, and why prevention isn’t emphasized in conventional medicine. The takeaway is clear: you’re not broken, you’re early. With consistent daily habits, your brain can heal, adapt, and stay sharp for decades to come. 🔥CLICK For Your Complete 14 Day Fat Loss Plan (Reignite Your Body & Life) HERE - https://bit.ly/3NEu8Cv  📚 🎁  Purchase Ben's new book Metabolic Freedom today to receive immediate access to a FREE course on metabolism with exclusive interviews from Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, Cynthia Thurlow & more. #1225 The Japanese Method That Melts Visceral Belly Fat, Lowers Inflammation, and Reprograms Your Metabolism Without Starvation or Cardio With Ben Azadi

In this episode, Ben Azadi reveals why stubborn belly fat is not a calorie issue or a willpower problem but a visceral fat problem driven by inflammation, stress hormones, and faulty metabolic signals. Ben explains the critical difference between subcutaneous fat and visceral fat and why traditional approaches like excessive cardio, crunches, caloric restriction, and chronic OMAD fail to eliminate deep belly fat. Drawing on over 200 years of Japanese metabolic wisdom, he shares a simple yet powerful three-pillar approach to melting visceral fat naturally: Deeply colored foods that activate fat-burning genes Green tea catechins that increase fat oxidation and block fat absorption Moderate-intensity movement using the 75% talk-test rule You’ll also learn: How to identify visceral fat with a simple self-test Why bottled green tea sabotages fat loss Why fat loss is about signals, not discipline How “thin on the outside, fat on the inside” (TOFI) applies to many people How fast visceral fat can drop once the right signals are restored This episode delivers a clear, actionable plan to reduce inflammation, protect metabolism, and restore your body’s natural fat-burning ability without starvation or punishment. 🔥CLICK For Your Complete 14 Day Fat Loss Plan (Reignite Your Body & Life) HERE - https://bit.ly/3Lp0oZQ  📚 🎁  Purchase Ben's new book Metabolic Freedom today to receive immediate access to a FREE course on metabolism with exclusive interviews from Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, Cynthia Thurlow & more. #1224 Why Eating Raw Honey Before Bed Can Lower Cortisol, Improve Deep Sleep, and Burn Fat While You Sleep With Ben Azadi

#1224 Why Eating Raw Honey Before Bed Can Lower Cortisol, Improve Deep Sleep, and Burn Fat While You Sleep With Ben Azadi

In this episode, Ben Azadi shares a surprising 30-day experiment where he ate a small amount of raw honey before bed and tracked its effects on sleep, stress, cravings, energy, and fat loss. Ben explains how chronic low-carb dieting, fasting, or undereating carbohydrates at night can elevate cortisol, disrupt sleep, and stall fat loss, especially for people over 40. He breaks down why raw honey is metabolically different from sugar, highlighting its enzymes, polyphenols, antioxidants, and lower insulin response shown in human studies. You’ll learn how low nighttime liver glycogen can trigger cortisol spikes and middle-of-the-night wake-ups, and how a teaspoon to tablespoon of raw honey before bed may support liver glycogen, reduce stress hormones, improve REM and deep sleep, and stabilize mood and energy. Ben shares his exact protocol, week-by-week results, who should avoid or modify this approach, how to choose high-quality raw honey, and whether this strategy affects ketosis. He also answers common questions about insulin, inflammation, fructose, melatonin, and long-term use. This episode reframes honey not as a sugar problem, but as a strategic metabolic tool to improve sleep, reduce stress, and support overall metabolic health. #1223 Scientists Tested Every Fasting Window And One Melted Fat Faster Than Anything Else (It’s Not 16:8) With Ben Azadi

On this episode of the Metabolic Freedom Podcast, Ben Azadi reveals why intermittent fasting often stops working and which fasting window actually produces the most fat loss according to human research. Ben breaks down studies comparing 12-hour, 16-hour, 24-hour, and 36-hour fasts, explaining how daily fasting can increase cortisol, stall metabolism, and block stubborn belly fat loss. He shares why fat loss requires strategic cycling, not constant deprivation, and how over-fasting can backfire by slowing thyroid function and reducing lean muscle. You’ll learn why the 36-hour fast delivers the most powerful fat-burning and metabolic benefits when used correctly, plus how to pair fasting with proper refeeds, protein intake, and recovery to avoid plateaus. Ben also explains the critical role of minerals during fasting and how mineral depletion is often mistaken for hunger or weakness. This episode delivers a clear fasting framework based on your stress level, age, and metabolic health, helping you fast smarter, burn fat more efficiently, and restore metabolic flexibility without wrecking your hormones. #1222 I Can Spot Insulin Resistance From Across the Room - The 5 Silent Signs Your Blood Work Isn’t Showing and How to Reverse It Naturally With Ben Azadi

In this episode of the Metabolic Freedom Podcast, Ben Azadi reveals how insulin resistance can exist long before it appears on standard blood work and how the body shows clear warning signs that most people overlook. Ben explains that insulin resistance is not caused by laziness or lack of discipline. It is a biological response to years of metabolic stress, often hiding in plain sight even in people who eat clean, exercise, and appear healthy. You’ll learn the five silent physical signs of insulin resistance, including dark skin patches, skin tags, stubborn belly fat, water retention, and cold or numb extremities. These visible signals often show up years before glucose or A1c levels become abnormal. The episode breaks down what insulin really does in the body, why chronically elevated insulin blocks fat burning, increases inflammation, and damages blood vessels, and why doctors frequently miss insulin resistance by relying only on glucose-based labs. Ben shares real client examples and walks through two simple, science-backed steps to start reversing insulin resistance immediately: eating protein and fat before carbohydrates and using apple cider vinegar correctly to blunt glucose and insulin spikes. This episode also explains why fasting insulin is the most important lab marker to request, how skinny individuals can still have dangerous visceral fat, and why insulin resistance is reversible when the right signals are restored. If you are dealing with stubborn belly fat, fatigue, inflammation, or unexplained health issues, this episode provides clarity, empowerment, and practical tools to take control of your metabolic health naturally. 👉Paleo ValleyApple Cider Vinegar Complex 15% off coupon code already applied at checkout https://www.paleovalley.com/offers/apple-cider-vinegar-complex-promo/pvpartners?oid=27&affid=68&creative_id=12  🔥CLICK For Your Complete 14 Day Fat Loss Plan (Reignite Your Body & Life) HERE -https://bit.ly/3LE2DIA   📚 🎁  Purchase Ben's new book Metabolic Freedom today to receive immediate access to a FREE course on metabolism with exclusive interviews from Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, Cynthia Thurlow & more. If you are struggling with stubborn belly fat, poor sleep, anxiety, or nighttime restlessness, the issue may not be calories, carbs, or willpower. The real culprit is often elevated cortisol, especially at night when it should be low. In this episode, Ben explains how chronically high cortisol blocks fat loss, disrupts sleep, increases inflammation, and accelerates aging. He breaks down how cortisol is meant to follow a natural daily rhythm and why modern stress, screen time, caffeine timing, and under-eating can keep it elevated at night. You’ll learn about seven powerful herbs that help lower cortisol naturally, calm the nervous system, improve sleep quality, and support fat loss indirectly by restoring hormonal balance. Ben explains how each herb works, when to take it, and common mistakes people make when using supplements. The episode also covers what does not work for cortisol and sleep, how to safely stack herbs, how long to use them, and who should be cautious. Ben answers common listener questions about cortisol testing, fasting, melatonin, medication interactions, and long-term use. This episode is a practical, science-backed guide to helping your body exit survival mode so it can heal, burn fat, and sleep deeply again. 👉 Four Sigmatic Calm Organic Elixir Mix - https://bit.ly/4qXdLiN  🔥CLICK For Your Complete 14 Day Fat Loss Plan (Reignite Your Body & Life) HERE - https://bit.ly/3Lp0oZQ  📚 🎁  Purchase Ben's new book Metabolic Freedom today to receive immediate access to a FREE course on metabolism with exclusive interviews from Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Jason Fung, Megan Ramos, Cynthia Thurlow & more.
