Amanda Gilbert | Can Meditation Help You Live Longer? What The Research Shows on Meditation & Cellular Aging, Telomere Health KKP: 551

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Amanda Gilbert. One of Amanda's high school teachers led her in meditation. This particular homeschool in the middle of West Virginia focused on search and rescue and outdoor survival skills, but it was also a special high school that included South American wisdom and philosophy because its founder visited indigenous cultures in South America and brought the wisdom of the four winds to the high school curriculum that he developed and then implemented. At this high school, Amanda spent the majority of the mornings working with a teacher who helped her focus on the present moment. Early in her 20s, Amanda kept hearing about meditation, so she decided to include it in her college undergraduate program. She was frequently given meditation books. Whayout made Amanda become a consistent meditator and a serious meditator was on the heels of a difficult early adulthood life moment. Amanda was aware that the key to any healing process was meditation. She then went in pursuit of her first meditation teachers, committed herself to daily meditation for a few hours, and started working as a clinical researcher on meditation and mindfulness at the University of California, San Francisco. After that, Amanda became a meditation teacher, and most recently, a professor of mindfulness at USC. In this episode, Amanda Gilbert dives into understanding meditation and mindfulness. She shares some advice on how you can practice meditation and mindfulness, as well as how you can show love and compassion in this world full of selfishness, judgement, and hatred. Amanda will also share how you can deal with impostor syndrome and practice gratitude, and its impact on your life. [9:09] Does meditation increase telomere length? Meditation as an anti-aging tool! Dr Elissa Epel's research focuses on stress reduction and stress management, including mindfulness and meditation and how these affect our cellular aging biomarkers like telomeres and telomerase. Meditation and mindfulness actually helped produce more telomerase at times in the body, which helped build back the length of our telomeres. Overall, our cell health and our cell aging are largely helped by spending time in meditation. The meditation retreat is well worth your time for your mental health and emotional health and overall psychological well-being. [13:40] A strong distinction between defining meditation and mindfulness Meditation is the active practice and training that we engage with in a consistent way, where we are working with our muscle of mindfulness in the mind. It is a training for our brain's attention, that helps us grow our ability to hold our brain's attention in the present moment. Mindfulness is having our attention in the present moment, moment to moment, in a non-judgmental and kind-hearted way. Mindfulness is something that we can always be practicing out in the midst of our daily lives. The first step to any change that we want in our lives always begins with awareness, meditation, and mindfulness. [23:52] The classical teachings of the Brahma vihara: Loving-kindness, Compassion, Appreciative joy, and Equanimity When we start to be able to notice these different aspects of ourselves, bringing mindfulness to our mind, bringing mindfulness to our emotions, being able to say with our experience in the present moment, what is helpful is also incorporating the heart in the heart practices. These four classical teachings of the heart, help us in navigating the inevitable stickiness, the inevitable experience of wanting to judge our minds, judge our emotions, etc. When we add in kindness and compassion as a modern-day meditator, our whole world starts to transform. [28:11] How can you show love and compassion? Be honest with the actual, palpable felt sense experience of this is what judgment feels like in your body. This is what anger feels like in your body. When we're judging, when we're angry, when we are in the frequency of hate, that's all pointed outwards, that is an external experience. Our awareness is completely anchored outwards. By bringing our awareness back and saying, how does my body feel right now, that starts to point the awareness back inwards, and we can realize this is not making us feel good. Instead of moving into judgment, or hatred, you can move into compassion or kindness or simply choose to disengage and not perpetuate that heart out in the world. What we develop and cultivate on the inside is most definitely what is transmitted and exuded on the outside through our responses or our reactions. [40:29] Compassion in itself is a direct antidote to Impostor Syndrome When we're suffering from imposter syndrome, we experience a lot of self-criticisms and the judgment mind is probably very active since we're comparing ourselves to others. Compassion is how we start to get into those pathways of judgment mind and introduce something else. You can start to move down a different path the moment you meet yourself with compassion, even if it's just through acknowledgement and recognition. [45:23] Gratitude: The quickest way back to happiness and joy Gratitude is a direct antidote to not being contented or aware of where we are actually supported in our lives. Gratitude shifts us often from a negative mindset or negativity bias that we are all primed with as human beings. It moves us back into a growth mindset, it moves us back into a state of greater contentedness, ease, appreciation, and happiness. Start to challenge yourself to think of 33 reasons that you're grateful for. By the time you reach 33, you are in a different mindset, you are in a different frequency and vibration, and you are rooted back in appreciation. AND MUCH MORE! Today, I am blessed to have here with me Ryan Brown. Having battled years of eating disorders and the chronic consequences of such behavior, Ryan has decided to embark on another healing journey, bringing you the no-BS truth about healing using a ketogenic lifestyle! Where being fat adapted is king and allows you to pursue your individual health goals! In this episode, Ryan opens up about his eating disorder; he went from 88 pounds to 130. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of his health problems. Ryan speaks about his small fiber sensory neuropathy (SFSN) diagnosis. Plus, he talks about detoxing from heavy metals and mold toxicity. Later, Ryan dives into all things ketosis and busts some common misconnections people have around a keto lifestyle. Tune in as we chat about the importance of animal-based protein, cholesterol, and the most significant pharmaceutical scam in the medical industry.  Register for my upcoming 90 day detox program: http://www.ketokampdetox.com  / / E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  Paleo Valley beef sticks, apple cider vinegar complex, organ meat complex & more. He was 88 pounds and dealt with severe anorexia.  Plus, Ryan was suffering from hardcore mental health problems. Eventually, Ryan got his weight up to 130. However, that wasn’t the end of his health problems.  Despite gaining weight, Ryan’s energy never returned, and he never addressed his emotional trauma from childhood.   Later, Ryan was diagnosed with small fiber sensory neuropathy (SFSN).  [11:40] Mercury in Tuna: Measuring Heavy Metals in Human Hair  One of Ryan Brown’s heroes is Dr. Terry Wahls. Learn more about Dr. Wahls here: https://terrywahls.com When Ryan did a deep dive on functional medicine, he looked at his mercury levels. At one point, Ryan had been eating tuna daily for four years.  When Ryan tested his hair follicle levels for mercury, his levels came back extremely high.  Blood tests will look at acute mercury, but they won’t give you chronic levels of mercury.  The bigger the fish, the more toxins they are going to have.  [18:20] Mold Toxicity: Getting Your Energy Levels Back With a Heavy Metal Detox Another deep dive Ryan did on his health was regarding mold toxicity.  In LA, Ryan found black mold in his home; he lived in it for over a year. After moving out of that environment, Ryan’s energy levels finally increased. Detoxing from heavy metals and staying in ketosis have been total game-changers for Ryan’s health.  [21:15] Free Tools to Improve and Support Your Mental Health  Ryan will start his day by journaling. He writes about good things that are going on in his life.  Once you believe in something, great things are going to happen.  Plus, Ryan will spend as much time outside as possible.  He loves to ground himself and practice breathing. Breathwork is one of the most potent mindset tools that we have.  [27:40] Why Ryan Is Such a Big Fan of Getting Into Ketosis  Ketosis is one of the most potent therapeutic tools anyone can use as a human being. Ketosis will help reset your body and give you humanity back. Infants are in ketosis, and women during pregnancy are in ketosis too.  So many people in the United States are metabolically inflexible. Every single one of these people can benefit from ketosis.  [30:10] Ryan Debunks Common Misconceptions About Keto  Too many health coaches and influencers are making ketosis complicated. Ketosis is not complex; it’s simple.  One of the biggest mistakes people make is eating things that are labeled “keto.”  Nothing in the world labeled “keto” beats eating real and whole foods.  You need to focus on real food instead of packaged and processed goods. Another thing people are getting wrong is worrying about eating too much protein. It’s actually pretty challenging to get into gluconeogenesis.  [35:40] Animal-Based Proteins Are Amazing for the Human Body  Pretty much everything you hear mainstream, almost the opposite is true.  Animals have the full array of amino acids that the human body needs. While on the other hand, plants do not have the full array of amino acids we need. Ryan is a massive fan of eating fatty red meat.  You need cholesterol to synthesize vitamin D. Also, don’t be afraid to eat eggs; eggs are great for your hormones.  [39:30] Cholesterol Is Critical for the Body and Your Overall Health More people die from heart disease with normal to low cholesterol than with high cholesterol.  Cholesterol is essential; your membrane is made up of partly cholesterol. Ryan says that statins are the most significant pharmaceutical scam in the medical industry.  Learn more about cholesterol from Dave Feldman: https://www.dietdoctor.com/authors/dave-feldman AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode:  Check out Ryan Brown: http://ryanmitchelbrown.com Ryan’s Email: Ketosisryan@gmail.com Follow Ryan Brown Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ryanmitchelbrown/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ketoryan YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/ryanmitchelbrown Dr. Terry Wahls: https://terrywahls.com Dave Feldman: https://www.dietdoctor.com/authors/dave-feldman Join the Keto Kamp Academy: https://ketokampacademy.com/7-day-trial-a Watch Keto Kamp on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUh_MOM621MvpW_HLtfkLyQ Register for my upcoming 90 day detox program: http://www.ketokampdetox.com  / / E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  Paleo Valley beef sticks, apple cider vinegar complex, organ meat complex & more. It will cause you to burn excess body fat and improve your overall health. But there’s one important caveat. A constant, unrelenting state of ketosis—in which your body is burning its own fat for fuel—is obviously unsustainable, because eventually you’d have no more fat. In this chapter, we move into the Flex pillar, which will allow you to maintain your Keto lifestyle month after month, year after year. Four Reasons Why Prolonged Ketosis Is Counterproductive My mantra is, “Lose the excess fat; treasure the necessary fat.” Ketosis is a brilliant strategy for accomplishing the first goal. As for the second goal, prolonged ketosis doesn’t have an automatic shut-off valve. If you remain in state of constant ketosis, burning your own fat, then your body will keep doing that as long as it must to stay alive. If necessary to preserve life, once your fat is gone, various bodily functions will be shut off or minimized. This process of shutting down will continue until Mr. Death knocks on your door and says, “Sorry, buddy—time’s up.” No one wants that. To ensure that you’re well informed, let’s review some of the bad things that can happen if you go too far with ketosis. Fat Burning Slows Down As levels of body fat drop, your primal brain, whom we thought we had trained to accept a high-fat diet and fasting, will be aroused and will begin to object. Why and when will this happen? Your primal brain, that eternal watchdog, will sense that your reserves of fat are becoming depleted. Remembering those long periods of deprivation thousands of years ago, your primal brain will sound the alarm: The fat supply is running low! It will issue the command that your body must preserve its precious fuel. In response, your body will actually slow down fat burning—all for the sake of survival! When you stay in ketosis too long, the body starts to rebel, and conserve its fuel. A good analogy is if you lived out in the woods and you had stored 500 logs of firewood to heat your cabin for the winter. These were your reserves, because you could still go out and chop more firewood. So if you had to dip into these reserves, you wouldn’t be worried. But now it’s early March, and snow still covers the ground. It’s been a tough winter and you haven’t harvested many trees, and you see that you’ve got only 50 logs left. That’s a very low supply! Suddenly you’re reluctant to use them because you don’t want to run out. When you had 500 logs, you didn’t care about burning them. The same thing happens with your body fat. This is why when you stay low carbohydrate for too long, your body will slow down fat metabolism. And you know what? This is a good thing. There is a big difference between losing excess fat and losing all your fat. You want to lose excess fat. But your body needs a small amount of fat, and your primal brain is smart to insist that you meet this minimal requirement. Thyroid Problems Hormone production is often a function of a “chain of command,” as orders are passed from one organ to another, until the desired outcome is achieved. The hypothalamus and the pituitary gland, which are located in the brain, help control the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your throat, just below the Adam’s apple. To provide their direction to the thyroid, the hypothalamus releases thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to release thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). When the hypothalamus and pituitary are working normally, they respond when: Thyroid hormone levels are low, so they secrete more TRH and TSH, which stimulates the thyroid to make more hormones. Thyroid hormone levels are too high, so they secrete less TRH and TSH, which reduces hormone production by the thyroid. The thyroid gland uses iodine from food to make two thyroid hormones: triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). The primary secretory product is inactive thyroxine (T4), which is a prohormone of triiodothyronine (T3). T4 is converted to T3 peripherally by tissues with high blood flow, including the liver and kidneys. In the brain, T4 is converted to active T3 by type 2 deiodinase produced by glial cells. The thyroid stores T3 and T4, and releases them as they are needed. These two thyroid hormones function in almost every cell in your body, and play a fundamental role in regulating your metabolism and maintaining your resting energy expenditure—that is, the energy you burn just to keep functioning while sitting on the sofa. Diet can influence thyroid hormone levels, and prolonged ketosis and severe calorie restriction can lead to reduced thyroid function, or hypothyroidism, which is a mechanism to ensure survival in response to perceived famine. The goal is to slow metabolism, preserve energy, and preserve vital organs. T4 is the inactive form of thyroid, it needs to be converted to T3 which is the active form used by the cells. Do you know which hormone helps with this conversion? Insulin. Low thyroid hormones cause a drop in levels of insulin, the hormone needed to transport sugar from the blood to different cells throughout the body. Chronic low insulin levels slow down cellular function, including muscle contractions and basic brain function. Over longer periods of time, low insulin levels compromise this T4 to T3 thyroid hormone conversion. Testosterone Deficiency Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) is a protein made by your liver. It binds tightly to three sex hormones found in both men and women—estrogen, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and testosterone. SHBG carries these three hormones throughout your blood. SHBG controls the amount of testosterone that your body tissues can use. Too little testosterone in men and too much testosterone in women can cause problems. Factors such as sex, age, obesity, liver disease, and hypothyroidism can change the level of SHBG in your blood. Hypothyroidism is when your thyroid produces an insufficient amount of thyroid hormones, which can happen with prolonged ketosis. What I’ve seen reviewing lab work over the years is too much SHBG leads to lower testosterone levels, and not enough SHBG leads to an increase in estrogen; both can be problematic for men and women. Long term ketosis can lead to either of these. Leptin Reset Leptin is your “stop eating!” hormone that plays an instrumental role in your hunger and weight management. It comes from the Greek word ”leptos,” meaning “thin.” Fat cells produce leptin in proportion to levels of body fat: the more fat cells you have, the more leptin they make. When your body fat increases, your leptin levels go up. Your brain senses the increase in leptin, and thinks, “Okay, we’ve got enough fat in reserve, so we can stop eating.” Thus, you eat less and burn more. Conversely, when you don’t eat, your body fat decreases, leading your leptin levels to drop. Your brain, sensing a shortage of leptin, thinks, “Hmm, we’re low on fat reserves. Better find some food!” At that point, you eat more and burn less. This negative feedback loop is similar to the control mechanisms for many physiological functions, such as body temperature, breathing, and blood pressure. A properly working leptin system tells your brain that you have enough energy stored in your fat cells to engage in normal, everyday metabolic processes. It leads to better brain function, memory, metabolic performance, mental sharpness, and coordination, and it can even affect the regulation of mood and emotion. This is wonderful—except that many overweight people suffer from leptin resistance. They have plenty of blood leptin, but the brain doesn’t recognize it. Despite the abundance of leptin, the brain thinks there is too little leptin—and orders the body to keep eating! This is obviously a bad situation. What can cause it? Several potential mechanisms behind leptin resistance have been identified. Free fatty acids. Having elevated free fatty acids in your bloodstream may increase fat metabolites in your brain, and interfere with leptin signaling. Inflammation. Inflammatory signaling in your hypothalamus could be a cause of leptin resistance. Having consistently high leptin. It may be that your brain gets accustomed to a constant flood of leptin churned out by your fat cells, and becomes “numb” to it. So, what happens when you follow a low-carb keto diet that puts you in long-term ketosis? Perhaps paradoxically, many people do not suffer from an increase in appetite, as you might expect from falling levels of leptin. It’s complicated, but the short version of the story is that leptin levels will drop, which would normally signal your brain to start eating. But something else happens—your brain becomes more sensitive to the effects of leptin, so a smaller amount of leptin packs more punch. In addition, the brain’s response to leptin is inhibited by inflammation, resulting in increased leptin resistance. Obesity increases inflammation, which increase the brain’s “numbness” to high levels of leptin. Inflammation is dramatically reduced by sustained nutritional ketosis. The reduction in leptin resistance due to reduced inflammation adds to the brain’s heightened sensitivity to leptin. In other words, on a well-formulated ketogenic diet the brain perceives a greater satiety response to less leptin. This explains the paradox as to why we see a decrease in appetite with nutritional ketosis. In order to achieve a sustained state of ketosis, you need to occasionally boost your levels of leptin and send the signal to your brain that higher levels of leptin are normal, and that you need to keep eating. This is another reason why the “flex” part of Keto Flex Lifestyle is so important. We never want your brain to think you’re starving—but we also don’t want it to forget about eating! Ben Azadi | What Is The Cause of Insulin Resistance? Can You Reverse Insulin Resistance? KKP: 448

Ben Azadi | What Is The Cause of Insulin Resistance? Can You Reverse Insulin Resistance? KKP: 448

Insulin resistance is VERY common these days. What is the cause of insulin resistance developing in the body, and can you reverse insulin resistance? This video explains how insulin resistance starts, and what you can do to reverse insulin resistance for good! What is insulin resistance? This happens when someone eats too frequently, and when they eat too many carbohydrates. The average American eats 300-400 grams of carbohydrates per day, and they eat often (about 17-23 times per day!). What is the best diet for insulin resistance? Dr Rebecca Warren | How to Support Your Thyroid, Understanding Thyroid Labs, Autoimmune Thyroid Disease & More KKP: 445

Dr Rebecca Warren | How to Support Your Thyroid, Understanding Thyroid Labs, Autoimmune Thyroid Disease & More KKP: 445

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Rebecca Warren. She is a Functional Wellness Practitioner and Doctor of Chiropractic who specializes in women’s sex hormones, thyroid hormones, and healing after thyroidectomy. At 19, Dr. Rebecca was diagnosed with Follicular Variant Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and had a complete thyroidectomy with high dose radiation- all of which was completely unnecessary. But she didn’t know what else to do. After having her thyroid removed, she suffered from hormone issues that Doctors would write off because all her labs looked “normal.” She suffered from depression, anxiety, weight loss resistance, and period issues with no help on how to get better. It wasn’t until she decided to draw a line in the sand that no doctor would know more about her body than she did; her health transformed. She has spent the past decade and a half studying the literature, implementing protocols, using the most up-to-date functional labs and testing, and ancestral tools (like fasting and diet variation) to not only take back her health but to help thousands of men and women to do the same. Her goal is to help people avoid her unnecessary suffering and help those that may be on a hopeless path right now. Dr. Rebecca practices with her husband in Chattanooga, TN, and does virtual coaching worldwide. Their approach is simple but powerful: get to the cause, support the body, and trust and know that the body was created to heal itself. In this episode, Dr. Rebecca opens the show by discussing the inspiration behind her podcast, The Thyroidless Life. Then, Dr. Rebecca dives deep into everything you need to know about thyroid health. Dr. Rebecca explains why one autoimmune disease will most likely lead to another one down the road. Plus, Dr. Rebecca speculates why COVID and the COVID vaccinations could worsen your thyroid problems. Tune in as we chat about liver health, repairing your thyroid problems, and getting your Hashimoto's under control. Whether you have a thyroid or not, thyroid healing and hormone balancing is a lifetime practice. The Thyroidless Life Podcast is a podcast about detoxing and fasting for hormone health. Rebecca wishes she had this information 17 years ago. Listen to the podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-thyroidless-life/id1623271333 [03:10] Why One Autoimmune Disease Will Lead to Another An autoimmune issue is systemic, and it comes from an immune imbalance. Rebecca specializes in the thyroid; over 90% of thyroid disorders, whether you're hyper or hypo is an autoimmune disorders. When you have an autoimmune disorder, you get a name for it, like Hashimotos. You don’t just have a thyroid issue; you have a whole body issue. When you have one autoimmune disorder in your body, you're three times as likely to develop another. [06:50] Are the COVID Vaccines Leading To Thyroid Issues?  You must ensure you've got the nutrition down; that's foundational. When your adrenals are good, then you have to start detoxing. Rebecca implores everyone to look at what's happened with their health in the last two and a half years. Having the COVID virus can create a thyroid storm and a thyroid issue. Two or three COVID vaccinations are also leading to thyroid issues. [16:00] The Thyroid Tests to Ask Your Doctor For As Soon As Possible You need a full wellness panel. First, look at your C-reactive protein. Also, make sure you know your fasting insulin and homocysteine. Homocysteine levels that are trending high mean there will be a methylation issue. When looking at thyroid, you need to do the full panel. Above all, make sure you know your Reverse T3. TSI, TPO, and thyroid globulin antibodies are also essential. Get these numbers done every single year; if they start to rise, you need to do something about it. [20:40] T4 & T3 Replacement Hormones to Repair Your Thyroid Problems If your doctor doesn’t want to order panels, then find someone who will. When your panels come back and things don’t look right, you may need to use grass-fed glandular. Grass-fed glandulars can help strengthen your thyroid and give you the needed hormones. Utilizing clean meds can help you get your head above water. Rebecca recommends WP Thyroid: https://wpthyroid.com/ You may also need Nature-Throid: https://www.naturethroid.com/ [27:30] Symptom Relief: Ketosis Will Give Your Thyroid a Break!  One of the great ways that ketosis can help is by creating ketone bodies for energy. Fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, and weight loss resistance are related to your thyroid hormones. When you get into ketosis, many of these symptoms will go away. Ketosis will give your thyroid a break! [36:40] Hashimotos Can Cause Thyroid Tissue Destruction, but You Can Get It Under Control You can have thyroid antibodies, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have thyroid tissue destruction. You want to decrease your markers as much as you can. The problem that happens with Hashimotos is thyroid tissue destruction. When there is an attack, you’re going to have more symptoms. You need to get the trigger under control. Then, do things that increase healthy cell growth. [46:20] What's the Relationship Between Liver and Thyroid Health? What's happening in the liver? Not only will it affect how many active hormones are available, but it will also determine how much Reverse T3 you're making. A healthy liver that's clearing out that's able to convert will be vitally important. The liver is going to help you detox. Your body knows what to do; however, we can’t ignore how toxic our world is these days. AND MUCH MORE! Resources from this episode: Check out Check out Drs. 2 Krazy Ketos | How The Keto Lifestyle Can Change Your Life FOREVER! KKP: 444

2 Krazy Ketos | How The Keto Lifestyle Can Change Your Life FOREVER! KKP: 444

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Joe and Rachel. They are happily married with three wonderful boys: John Paul, Anthony, and Caleb. After years of trying every type of weight loss plan you can think of, from severe calorie restriction to CrossFit, they decided to try the ketogenic lifestyle. Thankful for the opportunity to look forward to a happy and healthy future with their three adult sons, Joe and Rachel are excited to share their keto journey and hopefully encourage other families to change their diet and change their lives. After discovering the keto diet in 2017 and experiencing life-changing health results, Joe and Rachel made it their mission to share their testimony with as many people as possible. Their great hope is to encourage others who have experienced lifelong weight struggles and medical concerns. It is a game changer for their family to learn first-hand that diagnoses like morbid obesity, diabetes, arthritis, digestive issues, and chronic pain don’t have to be a life sentence. Joe and Rachel want you and your family to experience improved health.  In this episode, Rachel and Joe open the show by speaking about their past health problems, including a lifetime of obesity, chronic pain, arthritis, acne, plantar fasciitis, and migraines. After trying a ketogenic lifestyle, Rachel and Joe stopped their symptoms and completely changed their health and mental wellbeing. You’ll hear Rachel and Joe give tips on getting your significant other to try a ketogenic lifestyle. Tune in as we chat about the importance of self-love and the inspiration behind Joe and Rachel’s YouTube channel, 2 Krazy Ketos. Check out their videos here: https://www.youtube.com/c/2krazyketos.  Register for my upcoming 90 day detox program: http://www.ketokampdetox.com  / / E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  Paleo Valley beef sticks, apple cider vinegar complex, organ meat complex & more. One day, Joe decided to look into keto.  After trying keto, Joe immediately dropped twenty pounds in the first month.  Joe lost eighty pounds after six months of keto.  Plus, Joe no longer needed to take painkillers and arthritis pills on the keto diet.  [06:20] Dieting for Decades: The Keto Lifestyle Is a Game-Changer for Rachel  Rachel had been obese her entire life, and she had been dieting for decades. It was challenging for Rachel to make friends; she was teased a lot at school.  Rachel thought the only way to maintain success was calorie restriction.  Eventually, Rachel reduced her calories to 500 a day. Once Rachel tried keto, her plantar fasciitis, migraines, and acne were all gone. Plus, she finally had sustainable weight loss.  [12:55] Struggling With Emotional Battles and Working On Self-Love  Joe still looks in the mirror and sees the 300-pound Joe. One thing Joe tells himself is that the scale is the devil and the mirror is a liar.  Even after losing weight, Joe has an emotional battle when he looks in the mirror.  After decades of being so hard on ourselves, we have to do strength training in positivity. We falsely believe that we can love others and just skip that step of loving ourselves. In reality, we need to put energy into loving ourselves.  [18:00] How to Get Your Significant Other on Board With a Ketogenic Lifestyle   People don’t get on board with keto because they think it’s another fad diet.  Don’t try and push your significant other. Instead, lead by example. Make sure to come from a place of love.  Joe was passionate about keto, so he cooked all the meals. That way, Rachel would jump on board. People must come on board when they are ready for keto. Otherwise, the lifestyle will never work.  [33:05] Looking for Support? Find Community With 2 Krazy Ketos  Joe and Rachel wanted to devise a way to talk to one another without bringing up the children.  So, Joe wanted to start a YouTube channel.  They make YouTube videos about what they eat and how they lost weight with keto. Eventually, Joe and Rachel started a community space, and they love facilitating community wherever they go.
