In the deep, mist-covered swamps of Louisiana and the shadowed bottomlands of Arkansas, something has been seen. Something big. Something wild. Since the early 1960s, there have been sightings of a hulking, hair-covered creature said to stand over seven feet tall. Then we head north, across the state line, to the town of Fouke, Arkansas. In 1971, a quiet rural community was shaken by a terrifying encounter that left a family fleeing their home and sparked one of America’s most enduring monster legends. The creature became known as the Fouke Monster—or the Boggy Creek Monster. Witnesses describe a towering figure with glowing red eyes and long arms that swing like a great ape.
