Reviewing My Filipino Story and the Animated Version from the Filipino Story Studio

My mom sent me a link to a YouTube channel called The Filipino Story Studio. The goal of that channel is to uplift the global Filipino nation. The bedrock of the effort is a six-episode animated series that celebrates the beauty, the genius, and the spirit of the Filipino.

In this episode of the Part Filipino Podcast, I review the first video in this series on "What it means to be Filipino."

So, spoiler alert, I recommend that you watch the original video with The Filipino Story Studio before you get to my thoughts and comments. Here is a link to their video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/RdClMXrQlTM?si=h2shvSX7yrc0DHW7.

I will discuss the following issues:

00:00 - Why I feel called back to learn about the Philippines.

01:36 - My heritage and background.

04:15 - How Pleasant Grove, Utah is connected to the Philippines.

09:52 - What happened to the Manila Churchhouse in Pleasant Grove.

13:17 - Intro to the Review of “What it Means to be Filipino.”

15:24 - Begin Review and the 3 Bs of Filipino Culture.

17:16 - On language, ethnicity, and archipelago unity.

22:13 - The size of the Filipino Diaspora.

22:46 - The Austronesians and technological advancements.

25:04 - The Balangay (Filipino boats) and their relevance to Filipino Culture.

28:24 - Bayanihan: comments, questions, and concerns.

31:37 - What being Filipino means to me (and my son).
