What is the MMIW Movement? The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement is a fight for justice, visibility, and change. Indigenous women experience violence at rates 10 times higher than the national average, yet their cases are often ignored, dismissed, or forgotten. When they go missing, law enforcement drags its feet. When they are murdered, justice is rarely served.

A History of Injustice From colonization to modern-day systemic failures, Indigenous women have been treated as if their lives don’t matter. Government policies, racist legal loopholes, and neglect have created a dangerous reality where predators walk free while families are left searching for answers.

Remembering Emily Pike, Hanna Harris, and Ashley Loring HeavyRunner These are just a few of the countless Indigenous women whose lives were stolen too soon:

🔺 Emily Pike – A young woman who should still be here, but instead, her family is left demanding justice. 🔺 Hanna Harris – Murdered in 2013, her case was mishandled from the start. 🔺 Ashley Loring HeavyRunner – Missing since 2017. Her family is still searching, still fighting, still waiting.

Their names should be known, their stories should be heard, and their lives should have mattered more to the systems that failed them.
