Wilma June Nissen

On October 4th, 1978, in Iowa, a woman was found face down in a deep ditch about twenty feet from the road. No identification was found with her body, and being in an advanced state of decay, police had no way to determine who she was.

Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Wilma June Nissen. Years later, the police were able to identify the woman through fingerprints as Wilma June Nissen. The investigation into her death began from there. Wilma's daughter, Krissy, joined us for this episode to discuss her mother's life and her fight for justice.

In this episode, we're discussing three cases where victims were found in septic tanks. In 1977, an unidentified male was found in a septic tank in Tofield, Alberta. He was given the moniker of "Septic Tank Sam". Cam Lyman disappeared in 1987 from Hopkinton, Rhode Island leaving behind a lot of money and a suspicious trusted associate. Cam's body was found 10 years later. In 1978, five Louisiana teens disappeared in what appeared to be a series of kidnappings.  Join Mike and Morf as they discuss these bizarre cases of victims found in septic tanks. A significant amount of police effort went into solving these crimes. Some of that effort proved to be successful and some did not. The Louisiana case involves a dangerous criminal who was on the run using a fake alias. Lori Farmer, Denise Milner, and Heather Guse had all met for the first time when they were assigned to tent #8 at Camp Scott. The morning after they arrived, all three little girls were found dead. In 1975, 19-year-old Lindy Sue Biechler was starting her life in full. She had a job that she loved and she had recently married the man of her dreams. But, on December 5, 1975, Lindy pulled out of the parking lot of her job at the same time as her friend, ran a few errands, and then headed home to her apartment. Lindy's aunt and uncle came to the apartment for a visit and found Lindy dead inside before 9:00 PM. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss the life and death of Lindy Sue Biechler. Investigators were baffled as to who would want to kill this young woman. There was no sign of a robbery and the initial reports said that she had not been sexually assaulted. Police followed up leads and tips but were not able to find her killer. A year after her murder, her headstone was vandalized. Then, a year after that, the police received a bizarre taunting letter. Of the many victims, five were from the family of Mollie Burkhart, a wealthy full-blooded Osage Native American. A massive investigation and the take-down of a powerful and influential man ended the murders, but the senseless killings will forever be a part of the history of the Osage.
