Season 2, Episode 2: Kelly Mathews: Manager, Sport Venue Operations, and Community Recreation Programs

Our guest today is Kelly Mathews, Manager, Sport Venue Operations, and Community Recreation Programs at Seneca College. Kelly is also Camp Director for the Seneca King Day Camp, one of the largest day camps in Ontario, record holder for the fastest completion of the Oak Ridge Moraine Trail, and author of two (soon to be three) books.

1. King Day Camp, and what it takes to be a camp director at one of Ontario's largest day camps (hint: It involves getting up really early)

2. What happens after the camp closes down for the winter (a lot, actually!)

3. Kelly's books: Eaton Hall: Pride of King Township, The Road to Marylake, and a third due out in 2020, on the definitive history of King Township.

4. Kelly's record-setting hike of the Oak Ridge Moraine Trail.

About Today's Guest, Kelly Mathews

Kelly joined Seneca College and the King Day Camp team in April 2012 and brought to Seneca a wealth of camp programming and operations experience in both day and residential camp settings. Kelly has a degree in Kinesiology & Health Science from York University as well as a Certificate in Sport Administration.

Kelly has a passion for hiking and being in the outdoors and currently holds the record for the fastest hike across the entire Oak Ridges' Moraine Trail where she hiked 300km's in just seven days in the Fall of 2016.
