Thomas Crawford is an Air Force veteran and Founder of Crawford Security Consulting. His journey started in the Air Force as a unit trainer, a role he excelled at, and he even got a plaque for his dedication to adding character to many boring training sessions.

Thomas zeroes in on authenticity in training and how knowledge is one thing, but the delivery of the message on active shooter training and situational awareness is another. When it comes to people skills, Thomas credits his experience in retail as his best teacher.

Learning the skills and entrepreneurship basics from industry leaders

Thomas: "The rights and the wrongs, the good and the bad, and all the different things that I'm doing, whether it's business related, it's kind of interesting, I've reached out to a lot of industry leaders to find out about what I thought I wanted to learn about the specifics of, say, immediate responder training or situational awareness. And what I've gotten most of the time is how to start a small business."

Good content and no boring training sessions

Thomas: "Your training should be coming from somebody that not only has either the experience or the knowledge. You want good content, but you also need somebody that can present. It's definitely my catchphrase is no boring training sessions, no boring training sessions, and all capitals with a bunch of exclamation points, no boring training sessions."
