High School Students Are Now Learning How to Sleep

No, you’re not dreaming. High schools are now literally teaching kids how to sleep.

Mansfield Senior High in Ohio added a sleep course to help students improve their sleep hygiene. And it’s not just them—schools across the U.S. are hopping on the nap train, adding sleep lessons to health classes.

Why? Studies show teens are getting as little as 60% of the sleep they need, which experts say is linked to rising mental health issues, behavioral problems, and chronic absenteeism. Teens are supposed to get 8–10 hours a night, but most are running on about six. No wonder they’re exhausted.
