A wild week in AI

Why would Google train an AI to talk to dolphins? That’s not a question you hear every day, and yet it’s exactly the kind of headline that sums up what might be the most unpredictable, chaotic, and fascinating week in artificial intelligence so far this year. Not only are researchers now attempting to decode animal communication using lightweight neural networks, but we also saw humanoid robots run a literal half marathon, AI tools that can animate pets into dancers or bring comic panels to life with one click, and OpenAI launching its most intelligent models yet. Every one of these stories raises a unique question—why now, how does it work, and what does this mean for the future of interaction, creativity, and intelligence itself? That one question about dolphin conversations unravels into many more, and the only way to make sense of them is to follow each trail to its surprising conclusion.

SpaceX Working with Astronomers to Fix Starlink

SpaceX Working with Astronomers to Fix Starlink

SpaceX will tweak the orientation of the satellites as they fly toward higher orbits. By making the solar panels edge-on relative to Earth, each orbiter will reflect much less sunlight back toward the ground after their initial deployment, when they are brightest. Additionally, they will deploy a shield — similar to a patio umbrella or a car sun visor — which will block the light from hitting the highly reflective antennas in the first place. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/elonmusknewspod/supportSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/elon-musk-pod/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Launch Date Set for Crew Flight on SpaceX Rocket to International Space Station

A new era of human spaceflight is set to begin as American astronauts once again launch on an American rocket from American soil to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley will fly on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft, lifting off on a Falcon 9 rocket at 4:32 p.m. EDT on May 27, from Launch Complex 39A in Florida, for an extended stay at the space station for the Demo-2 mission. The specific duration of the mission is to be determined. As the final flight test for SpaceX, this mission will validate the company’s crew transportation system, including the launch pad, rocket, spacecraft, and operational capabilities. This also will be the first time NASA astronauts will test the spacecraft systems in orbit. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/elonmusknewspod/supportSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/elon-musk-pod/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices.
