021: How to Live Your Potential with Steven Rudolph
"Everybody has a unique way of being— You can't escape who you are. And so it's better to be the best you that you can be, rather than trying to be somebody else." -Steven Rudolph Some people think that potential is something that you have, but haven't realized yet. But others believe that potential is something you can only reach when you achieve your goals. Like most things in life, there's a middle ground between these two points of view. Steven Rudolph dreamed of being a rockstar. Sadly, following his dream didn’t help him pay the bills so he applied as a teacher. At that moment, Steven realized that he had a knack for teaching and that he had a bigger mission to fulfill. He founded Feed Your Tigers, which is his way of saying “live your potential”. Today, Steven continues to help others discover their true selves and live their purpose. In this episode, Steven and I talk about how we can figure out our true potential and how to live it. 019: Trauma Healing- Reorient From Pain to Possibility with Greg Wieting
"Who we are is not our pain." -Greg Wieting Trauma is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. However, living with trauma isn't really ideal, especially if it's causing us to act out in destructive ways or making us withdraw and isolate ourselves from the people closest to us. Trauma can also manifest itself in physical ways. We might start experiencing headaches, body pain, or problems with our digestion. We might find it hard to fall asleep, or we might start having nightmares. Many times, people who have experienced trauma don't even realize that they're suffering from it. They just think that they're having a really bad day, or that they're just overwhelmed with work. So how do we know if our pain is a symptom of trauma or not? In this episode, I sit with Greg Weiting, the Founder of PRISMA. He developed the Prisma Method from his own healing journey. Today, Greg is helping leaders, students, and individuals heal their trauma from the roots. Listen in as Greg and I discuss the imprints of trauma so we can easily identify it, how trauma manifests itself in leadership and our relationships, how our healthcare system is failing us with regards to healing the root causes of our pain, and how we can reorient ourselves and ultimately heal from our trauma. 017: Be Too Dumb to Quit! with Donnie Boivin
“Most people who find success are people like me who are too dumb to quit… You are your own champion. Nobody else is going to choose you to stand out front. You get to choose yourself and become that champion.” -Donnie Boivin The first step in chasing our dream is knowing how much it's worth. (Read that again.) One of the common traps we will encounter in our journey is the trap of going back to a “safe” space when life takes a sudden turn. But we want to remind ourselves that the most important thing about our dream isn't how great it is, but rather how much time and effort we put into it from day one. Our dream will increase in value only if we don't stop working towards it in the first place! In this episode, I sit with Donnie Boivin, the CEO of the Success Champions family of companies. Donnie was successful at what he does— sales. He knows how to make a sale easy and he can talk about it with burning passion anytime. But when this one thing was taken away from him, not only was his dream crushed, but he also felt what most of us, men, feel— a mix of negative emotions when we know we let our loved ones down, and worse, we let ourselves down. One evening, he was invited to dinner and his business partner told him something that changed his life forever. What was that conversation about? And how did he go from almost losing everything he had to owning a network of companies, being a top podcast host, and having 5 best-selling books? Listen in as Donnie and I talk about how we can champion our own success, why we should not let the promises of a “secure job” depreciate the value of our dreams, how a true CEO thinks and acts, and how we can build a business so that we’re not creating “just another job” for ourselves but enjoying the freedom of being able to follow our dreams. “There's a lot more than what we see and hear and taste and smell and feel. There's a lot more to life.” -Ali West Life can change in a moment. A new job, a new relationship, the death of a loved one, or other circumstances can throw us off our game and send us reeling. When this happens, it's tempting to try and make sense of it by thinking about ourselves in terms of how we've always been defined by our past. But this is not how we want our lives to be.
