Episode 38: Managed vs. Unmanaged

Episode 37 caused quite a stir because I publicly announced my refusal to ever use Managed Solutions for any purpose other than to deliver IP or Solutions created by an Independent Software Vendor (ISV).

CRM MVP Jonas Rapp "closed this case" by publishing an article attempting to put this issue to rest where he basically claimed that you are either using Managed Solutions, or you are doing it wrong.

So, I started wondering: Am I the one who has been wrong this whole time? Have I been against this "Best Practice" for so many years due to my lack of understanding regarding how these solutions work? Should I apologize to all the listeners for suggesting they use Unmanaged Solutions instead?

Well, there was only one way to find out. I took advantage of the fact that I was attending the CRMUG Summit in Phoenix, AZ and pulled 4 other seasoned Microsoft Dynamics 365 Professionals (2 developers and 2 implementers) to see if we could end this debate once and for all. At the very least we should be able to end this debate with a 3-2 vote, right?

Was Team Managed Solutions led by Microsoft, Jonas Rapp, and other experts right this whole time? Or, will I be able to find anyone else who would join my Unmanaged Solutions Rebel Squad?

Tune in to listen how we end this debate once and for all.
