Closing the 18-Inch Gap Podcast-EP033: 14 Ways FEAR Holds You Back

I look at fear as a bully in the playground. You want to have fun and succeed in life, but that bully is always around to pick on you. It will not let you play in peace. Well today we're going to look at a short list of 14 reasons why that may be the case, especially when working with a life coach. While the reasons why people hesitate to seek help from a life coach can vary widely depending on individual circumstances and personalities, here are 14 common reasons that individuals might hesitate, more on the other side:

Quote of the week:

"The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." Nelson Mandela

Points covered:

1. **Self-Reliance**: Belief that they should be able to handle their issues on their own without external assistance.

2. **Cost**: Worries about the financial investment required to engage with a life coach, especially if they perceive it as expensive.

3. **Fear of Vulnerability**: Apprehension about opening up to someone else and being vulnerable about personal struggles or weaknesses.

4. **Lack of Trust**: Doubt about whether the life coach can truly help or if they have the necessary expertise.

5. **Unsure of Effectiveness**: Skepticism about whether life coaching will actually make a difference in their life.

6. **Fear of Change**: Resistance to the potential changes that might result from working with a life coach.

7. **Denial**: Difficulty acknowledging or accepting that they need help or that their current approach is not working.

8. **Fear of Dependency**: Fear of becoming dependent on the life coach or feeling reliant on them for guidance.

9. **Time Commitment**: Concerns about the time required to engage in coaching sessions and implement changes in their life.

10. **Perception of Self-Help**: Belief that they should be able to solve their own problems through self-help methods or resources.

11. **Lack of Awareness**: Not fully understanding what life coaching entails or how it could benefit them.

12. **Feeling Overwhelmed**: Feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of addressing their issues and unsure where to start.

13. **Difficulty Trusting Others**: Difficulty trusting others due to past betrayals or experiences.

14. **Fear of Discomfort**: Fear that the coaching process will be uncomfortable or emotionally challenging.

t's important to note that while these reasons may prevent some individuals from seeking help from a life coach, many find great benefit and support from working with a skilled coach. Turn fear into a positive thing by allowing it to mean Face Everything And Rise!!! To your success!
