Hilary Knight heads to Seattle as BIG Signings lead the first phase of PWHL Expansion!

Programming note: We recorded today’s show prior to the official signing of goaltender Corinne Schroeder to the new PWHL Seattle team.

On today’s Women’s Hockey Report, Erica L Ayala and Rachel Donner break look at the first signings for new PWHL teams in Vancouver and Seattle. We discuss new PWHL Vancouver players Sarah Nurse, Sophie Jaques, Claire Thompson, Emerence Maschmeyer, and Jennifer Gardiner as well as PWHL Seattle players Hilary Knight, Danielle Serdachny, Cayla Barnes, and Alex Carpenter.

Then we look at the next steps in PWHL expansion, including the upcoming Expansion Draft, and what Seattle might do for a goaltender (the Schroeder signing notwithstanding). Finally, we react to the PWHLPA announcement that players will internally disclose their salaries, but not release that information to the public; we also talk about USA Hockey’s new hire of Courtney Kennedy to coach the U18 squad.
