It took over a year for Virginia police to make a second arrest in connection with the murders of Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan. Juliana Peres Magalhães, the au pair caring for Banfield's daughter, faces second-degree murder charges, but only in Joseph Ryan's death. The person indicted in Christine Banfield’s killing is her husband, Brendan Banfield. He faces four counts of aggravated murder and one count of felony firearm use. That day, Banfield told 911 he shot a man who had stabbed his wife. Investigators say the killings were part of a larger scheme. Peres Magalhães and Brendan Banfield began a romantic relationship in the months leading up to the murders, and allegedly continued the affair afterward. On the day of the murders, Magalhães called 911 to report an emergency. She hung up during the first call, and more than 10 minutes later, she called again, with Brendan Banfield speaking to the dispatcher. He claimed he shot a man who had stabbed his wife. According to Peres Magalhães, they found Joseph Ryan holding a knife to Christine Banfield’s throat. She alleged Ryan stabbed Christine Banfield, and Brendan Banfield then shot Ryan. Magalhães also told authorities she fired one shot at Ryan with a second gun. More allegations against Sean Diddy Combs emerging from Combs’ ex-girlfriend, the late Kim Porter. Porter's friends have leaked nearly 60 pages from the diary Porter kept during her relationship with Combs in a memoir. The author of Kim’s Lost Words claims the pages were provided by a friend of Porter’s, who also claims to have tapes Porter copied from Combs’ files depicting Combs having sex with a male teenage pop star. The diary pages reveal Combs hits Porter for the first time when she refuses to use a strap-on with him. Porter claims Combs hosts “parties” that are really just orgies, and “everyone wanted in.” Porter details finding Combs’ ‘vault’ full of video tapes of Combs’ encounters, many with young men, stars he had formerly managed at Bad Boy. The author of the memoir was also provided a photo of Porter using makeup to cover injuries Combs’ caused. When asked about defending Combs again the allegations that he hit, kicked and dragged women which was caught on camera. The attorney replied, " he's not charged with hitting, kicking and dragging. He's charged with sex trafficking." What began as an investigation into the suicide of a popular high school athlete uncovered an international sextortion ring. On Twitter, Jordan Demay received a message from a user named Dani Roberts, who convinced him to send explicit photos. Moments later, the situation turned dark. "Dani Roberts" demanded money, threatening to send the photos to Jordan’s family and friends if he didn’t comply. Jordan sent all the money he had, but the demands continued. Six hours later, Jordan Demay took his own life. Days after Jordan’s death, his girlfriend received one of his explicit photos and went to the police. Marquette County Sheriff's detectives, working with the FBI, traced "Dani Roberts'" IP address to Nigeria. Three Nigerian men—Ezekiel Robert and brothers Samuel and Samson Ogoshi—were linked to Jordan’s case and over 100 other victims. Five U.S. citizens are now accused of facilitating the sextortion scams, handling payments from victims, and transferring the money to Nigeria. Prosecutors allege the defendants laundered nearly $200,000 for the scammers.
