Big leap from Trekkies and Six Days in Roswell to making a film called 'The Truth About Marriage?" I asked Roger Nygard about his fascination with seemingly impossibly deep subjects, and why marriage was his next plunge. You may be surprised by his response.

Roger Nygard is obsessed with unraveling mysteries. Marriage can certainly be one, right?

Curiosity, he believes, is our nature, and he enjoys delving into new explorations to shed light and plummet the depths. Roger says "Happiness is in the process" and we need to be challenged. Again, marriage can be challenging, right?

What inspired Roger to look into the truth of marriage? He says that it was his own failures that caused him to look deeply at what was underneath the surface that he might have missed. Personal experience can shift your thinking in ways that a world of conversation cannot. Roger had those experiences, learned from them, and did what every inquiring mind does: he jumped into the why's, wherefore's, could have's, should have's, and why didn't I's. His movie is the result.

Roger Nygard has made several award-winning, independent, feature films. His current project, THE TRUTH ABOUT MARRIAGE, focuses on his most challenging topic yet: marriage.

His previous documentary, THE NATURE OF EXISTENCE, asks why are we here, and what are we supposed to do about it? His other documentaries include, TREKKIES and TREKKIES 2, about the most obsessive fans in the Universe, and a compelling look at UFO enthusiasts entitled, SIX DAYS IN ROSWELL. Nygard’s narrative films include HIGH STRUNG, a comedy starring Steve Oedekerk, the action film, BACK TO BACK: AMERICAN YAKUZA 2, and the car-salesman cult-film SUCKERS. He has also edited feature films such as Mike Binder’s comedy-dramas, MAN ABOUT TOWN and BLACK OR WHITE.

ROGER NYGARD is perhaps best known to audiences and critics alike for his highly successful and acclaimed documentary Trekkies about the most obsessive fans in the Universe. Nygard’s previous documentary, The Nature of Existence addressed the impossible subject of the source of the world's philosophies, religions, and belief systems. Nygard has made several award-winning films, including the comedy High Strung, with Steve Oedekerk, Denise Crosby, and Jim Carrey, Back to Back: American Yakuza 2 with Michael Rooker and Bobcat Goldthwaite, Suckers with Daniel Benzali, Louis Mandylor, and Lori Loughlin, and the documentary about UFO fanatics, Six Days in Roswell.
