Olivia Thorndike

Throughout 2019, bizarre classified ads started to appear in the Virginia-based Rappahannock Record, which were centered around a cold case four decades in the making.

Olivia Thorndike had been a 24-year-old young woman living in Henrico County, whose life came to a sudden and tragic end in November of 1981. While detectives and prosecutors had their suspicions about a couple of men in Olivia's orbit, they were never able to build a convincing case against either.

Nearly forty years later, Olivia's case remains unsolved, but some people continue to search for justice (those that knew Olivia, and those that never had the chance). Tragically, that means that there's not a lot of information out there about Olivia, but I've been able to learn a lot about the two violent men that revolved around her in the weeks and months before her death...

The Long Island Serial Killer (Part Two: Lost Girls)

On December 10th, 2010, Suffolk County police officer John Mallia was taking his canine partner for a bit of training off of the Ocean Parkway. Located on Long Island, this was the area where sex worker Shannan Gilbert had disappeared from months beforehand. Little did Mallia know the decade-in-the-making can of worms he would unearth, exposing this quaint New York community to the terrifying killer living among them. This episode dives into the lives of the four victims found in that initial discovery: Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello. These women lived tragic lives, and all met the same ending, punctuated with a question mark. This is part two of three. Written and hosted by Micheal Whelan Music and production by T. Nordgren Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.
