Alexa Bartell: “Rock Tossing Killers”丨MURDERISH Ep. 191

On a crisp evening in April 2023, 20-year-old Alexa Bartell was driving to her girlfriend’s house. The two were on the phone together, when suddenly, the call dropped. Alexa’s girlfriend, Jenna Griggs, tried calling Alexa back several times but the call went straight to voicemail. When Jenna opened the Find My Friends app, she saw something alarming. It appeared as though Alexa’s vehicle had veered off the road and into a wildlife refuge, and wasn’t moving. When Jenna reached Alexa’s location, she’d be faced with devastating news. Alexa had been killed. Someone had thrown a large landscaping rock through her windshield, killing the young woman instantly. Who would be so callous, and how would investigators find the person or persons responsible? Bianca Devins, “If I Can’t Have you …” | MURDERISH Ep. 088

Bianca Devins, “If I Can’t Have you …” | MURDERISH Ep. 088

Social media is a double-edged sword. It connects us to people we likely would have never encountered and allows us to stay in touch with family and friends no matter where they live. As much as social media can be a tool to stay connected in a positive way, the barrier between people on social media can also be used as a way to cloak someone’s true nature. In the case, we’re examining in this episode, both positive and negative aspects of social media were applied. The victim found refuge online and used social media as an outlet where she could explore her identity as she journeyed into adulthood. But the sanctuary she found in online communities would shift in July of 2019, with social media serving as a catalyst for unspeakable peril. “Emma Walker, Two Shots in the Night” | MURDERISH Ep. 087

In high school, we go through a myriad of first experiences. There are sports, prom, first loves, and oftentimes, heartbreak. For most people these experiences shape us, and the mistakes we make during this time usually don’t have permanent consequences. During the fall of 2014 to the fall of 2016, before the curtain fell and the reality of one teenage relationship was exposed, most students at Central High School must have looked on in envy at the handsome football star and his beautiful cheerleader girlfriend. Only, their relationship was not enviable and it would end with one of them dead. Check us out: Visit Murderish.com for more info about the show and Creator/Host, Jami. Brown’s Chicken Massacre | MURDERISH Ep. 086

Brown’s Chicken Massacre | MURDERISH Ep. 086

Late in the evening on Friday, January 8, 1993, the employees in one particular restaurant in Palatine Chicago didn’t know at the time that they would not be going home that night. Hours after these workers began their closing routine, all seven of their bodies would be discovered inside of Brown’s Chicken, a popular restaurant chain. Upon entering the bloody scene, officer Ron Conley dispatched backup saying “Five in the cooler.” This tragedy was the worst mass murder in the Chicago area since 1966 when Richard Speck murdered eight student nurses in their dorm. It would take nine long years for authorities to receive a break in the horrendous case widely known as the Brown’s Chicken Massacre. Jennifer Turner: Murder or Self Defense? | MURDERISH Ep. 085

Oftentimes, divorces are messy. Hurt feelings, large sums of money, and decisions regarding custody of children only add to the stress that separation can bring. In the case we examine in this episode, a divorce brought out the worst of those involved. Past mistakes, love affairs, and previous marriages were all fair game. At a certain point, all of the fighting ended, but not in a way that anyone would have wanted. The contentious divorce proceedings came to a halt when one of the parties was murdered, or was she? Introducing: The Devil Within

Introducing: The Devil Within

It’s a case that has haunted Jefferson Township, New Jersey, for more than 30 years. On a snowy January night, 14-year-old Tommy Sullivan did the unthinkable: he murdered his mother in cold blood, set fire to their house, and then took his own life. Out of the flames of this horrible tragedy, investigations revealed that Tommy was, himself, a part of a Satanic Cult, sparking a nationwide hysteria now known as the “Satanic Panic” This monumental moment in American culture led to communities nationwide enforcing draconian measures to protect their children from what they perceived to be the devil’s influence. Even the Catholic church was convinced this was a case of demonic possession. On the new podcast, THE DEVIL WITHIN, the truth of the grisly murder is finally revealed. Did Tommy act alone? Did he really commit suicide? Is his cult still in power? THE DEVIL WITHIN finally sheds light on questions left unanswered for decades... “Dr. Field & Dr. Bolanos: Murder at the MacAllen”丨MURDERISH Ep. 084

Two prominent Massachusetts doctors who dedicated their careers to enhancing patients’ quality of life ...both found brutally murdered in their high-rise Boston penthouse in May of 2017. They had everything going for them - an upcoming wedding, plans for a surprise vacation getaway, and an extravagant lifestyle reflecting all their hard work. Why would anyone want to cause them harm? Was this a random attack or did someone have a bone to pick with one or both of them? As investigators scrambled for answers, the “who” of the crime was a lot more straightforward than the “why.” Check us out: Visit Murderish.com for more info about the show and Creator/Host, Jami.
