A mother is in court charged with leaving her one-year-old son in a hot car for two hours, leading to his death. The story is even more upsetting when you hear where the mom was for all that time. She was inside a spa getting lip fillers while the car heated up to a sweltering 143 degrees! Now even her own mother-in-law is denouncing her. And a now former teacher is facing more than a dozen charges after being accused of having sex with a student - and it allegedly went on for years. Now the student is 18, and in a move that is rare for victims in cases like this, he's going public to put a face on teacher sex crimes. Plus, out of the blue, a grandmother got a call from a 9-1-1 dispatcher. At first, she thought there was some sort of emergency, then the dispatcher told her she was getting an award from the police department. But what she heard next almost knocked her off her chair. The dispatcher said she was being honored for being the dumbest person in her neighborhood! That dispatcher is no longer taking calls. And there was lots to look at in the stands at Wimbledon including a royal moment, as Kate Middleton returned to the tennis tournament for the first time since starting her cancer treatments. She was emotional as she got a rousing standing ovation. To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. It was created to give parents a safe place for their children during the summer and afterschool. And today three children and an 18-year-old girl who were at a daycare center are dead - killed when authorities say a woman drove through the school. And last week a devastating wildfire in New Jersey sent smoke billowing over Manhattan. A nineteen-year-old is accused of starting the blaze and it's putting the spotlight on bonfire parties - popular with local teenagers. Plus, today marks 100 days since Donald Trump returned to the White House, but his approval ratings are definitely not where he'd like them to be. And that lead to a late-night White House meltdown. And Beyonce kicked off her Cowboy Carter tour last night in Los Angeles in front of a star-studded crowd. Despite talk of a ticket sale slump...it was a packed stadium. And the fans went wild when she flew above them in a classic car. At least two arrests in connection with the purse snatching of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Turns out both suspects are allegedly career criminals in the country illegally -- unaware of whose bag was being nabbed. As a White House official said today, they picked the wrong person. And you've probably seen that spectacular footage of a boat crash over the weekend on Lake Havasu. They were hoping to make history with a new speed record, but instead they've made different headlines. Incredibly, they're alive to read them. Plus, when you're trying to sell a book, you need to get noticed - and former Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belichick is definitely getting noticed, thanks to his much-younger girlfriend who put the kibosh on one question during an interview. And a new trend circulating on social media might actually be good - for your wallet. It's called 'No Buy,' and its basically people going public with their plan to cut back or eliminate unnecessary spending. It's no accident that it's trending just when surveys reveal Americans’ biggest concerns are all pocketbook issues.    To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. This is not something they cover during the airline safety briefing. If the ceiling starts to fall in, hold it up. That's exactly what happened on a Delta jet from Atlanta to Chicago. Passengers found themselves holding up the ceiling at 30,000 feet! And the crazy thing is - the same problem happened on another Delta jet on the same day! And an air quality alert for the Big Apple ... and the reason is wildfires. More than 15,000 acres in New Jersey have been burned and the smoke is now in New York City. The smoke may become so bad to breathe we could see the return of masks. Plus, in Vatican City, a steady stream of mourners have passed by the casket of the late Pope Francis. On day two of the three-day period of viewing, when the public was first admitted into St. Peters, there was a bit of a bottleneck -- but, the lines are moving rather quickly. Perhaps because church officials decided to keep the basilica open overnight. And more than 3.6 million babies were born in the U.S. last year. That sounds like a lot -- but it's below the birthrate needed to maintain the population stable through births alone. President Trump wants to address that - by paying women $5000 to have a child. Not everyone is applauding the idea. To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Inside Edition for Wednesday, April 23, 2025

The faithful poured into Vatican City today to pay their respects to Pope Francis whose body will lie in state inside St. Peter’s Basilica for three days leading up to Saturday’s funeral. There's nothing more majestic than the funeral of a Pope and even though Pope Francis left instructions that things should be toned down to reflect his modesty, it's still quite a spectacle. And back home in the states, a couple feels lucky to be alive after they were robbed at gunpoint. Just as they were coming home from dinner, three men with guns came out of nowhere, and the couple immediately gave them everything - - even their clothes off their back. Plus, less politics. More business. That's the word from Elon Musk after announcing Tesla's profits have dropped a staggering 71%. And he's rebranding the CyberTruck... suggesting it's less space age and more plain ole' truck. And according to President Trump's latest physical, he weighs 224 pounds... a lot less than his highest weight. Now a report in the daily beast questions whether he has Ozempic to thank. At the moment the late pontiff's body remains in a chapel inside his private residence, but tomorrow he will be moved to St. Peter's basilica, where the Pope will lie in repose in an open casket so the faithful here in Rome may pay their last respects. And back home in the states, opening statements began today in the retrial of Karen Read - the woman accused of murdering her Boston cop boyfriend by mowing him down with her SUV. As Read entered the court for her second trial, she said she was feeling anxious, but ready. Plus, every minute, an estimated 500 purses are stolen in the United States. And over the weekend, the purse belonging to homeland security secretary Kristi Noem was one of them. As you may have heard, her bag was snatched while she was dining at a DC restaurant with her family on Easter Sunday. The thief got away with 3 thousand dollars cash and Noem's government access badge - which raises security concerns. And eleven years ago, an adorable little girl named Grace was dying of stage four cancer. She and her family flew here to Rome to meet Pope Francis -- and what do you know... her cancer went into remission and today she's doing great.   To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. Around the world, 1.4 billion Catholics, along with people of all faiths, are mourning the death of Pope Francis. There had been worries over the Pope's health in recent months after his five-week hospital stay for pneumonia... and when he appeared at the Vatican yesterday for Easter, there were hopes he was doing better... but that comeback is now being seen as a goodbye. And Pope Francis is known as one of the most humble papal figures in the catholic church's history. And as we saw during his trip to the states, he didn't want to be seen as just an untouchable icon, waving from the Vatican balcony. He was dubbed the people's Pope because he liked to get up close and personal. Plus, in public, Pope Francis usually took a serious tone - talking about the world's problems. But behind the scenes those close to him say he liked a good joke like the rest of us. That's why he was all smiles last year when he hosted 100 famous comedians at the Vatican. And a retiree working as an Uber driver to help pay the bills, ended up stuck in her vehicle on train tracks, and started panicking. She called 911 just as a good Samaritan came to her aide carrying her out of her car... with a speeding train just seconds away.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. As a little kid he starred with Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, delivering one of the most repeated lines in movie history – “I see dead people.” Since then, Haley Joel Osment has dropped off the radar. Now he's been arrested for alleged public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance and when he watched the police bodycam video, he says he was absolutely horrified. And we're learning more about the 20-year-old stepson of a sheriff's deputy accused of opening fire at Florida State University, killing two and injuring six others. His classmates say they weren't surprised about what happened because the suspect was known to act strangely on campus. Plus, it's a classic piece of pop culture - the Kool-Aid guy crashing through the wall to promote the sugary drink kids love. But it's led to a challenge on social media and no one's fence is safe. And a community is helping each other as we head into easter weekend by forming a human chain....of books! 300 people lined the street passing more than nine thousand books. It was all to help a local business - Serendipity Bookstore- move to a new location.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
